Like Dennis said, we will provide an official list at the time of Musikmesse. We have hit no problems so far with any VSTi not requiring a hardware dongle. Also the new version of WinE under OS5 fixes the problem recognizing USB dongles, but we have not tested that with all the VSTi's yet.

Best regards,
Rob
Sometimes i get the feeling that to much security is worse then no security. To many dongle problems have forced people to use hacked versions while they had a legtime version on the shelf..

Sad thing to say is that these hacked version will probably work on the groove.

Seems a lot of manufactures are moving away from Dongles lately because of that, so it's not all bad. Challenge response and registration keys are in my opinion the perfect balance without crippling the paying customer.

Not by our doing. There's no way to prevent anyone from using cracked software if they are that kind of person. If there was, the person who can come up with the solution would be a millionaire.

If something is worth using then it's worth paying for. That's my motto.

I have few of those, i purchased the legal version, paid honestly for it and
everything is in the closet, i am registered...but...i use cracked versions of
the same exact Software and Version Build.
In earlier times you had to put CDs in everytime you start the Soft, i just
used Cracked with no need of a CD but i dont see that as against the law.

Sounds great. That would absolutely be the right way to go.

I think that the Dongle USB key isue is now reselved from the new Wine 1.3.11 version:
Image
How you can see on the Wine config setup, under Drivers, you can now add more windows letters drivers and then path link to the desidered device installed on the Linux OS.
With this new feature you can also full install the Komplete 7 DVD disk, because you can add the windows letter drive to the DVD drive mounted on Linux OS and the Komplete 7 installer will reconize correct the DVD disk.
Same I think is for the USB dongle keys, because now you can assing one windows letter drive and link to the applicaton.

Yes, that is so SOOOOO cool Domenico... BRAVO!!

I can now buy the East West VST's...and others

Bachus, man, you are so fortunate being able to get to MM. It will be good to get your views on what you see afterwards.

Domenico, all the best for MusikMesse m8, I am sure Lionstracs will be one of the most talked about stands...

great news Domenico,

Rui released also Qtractor 4.8:

http://qtractor.sourceforge.net/qtractor-index.html

Rob:

one of the strong side of lionstracs products is freedom of choice for end users.

so keep the system O.S system open as possible for third party VST/ softrware.

as you see, Wine and qtractor/qranger for example changes very fast and only gets better and better.

Of course you and lionstracs can not guarantee third party software, but the base O.S that makes Lionstracs product usable for the end user should be and most be supported.

for example a Groove keyboard/rack without good working Qranger wil be nothing then trouble for end user, so Qranger must be well supported. becouse it makes lionstracs product partly what it is. so you can not say qranger is a third party software,at least that part that has changed or imparted by lionstracs software developers.

(remember this is an example and nothing else):
one example: Rui imporoves Qtractor therefore also Qranger, but you see bugs on Qranger and not Qtractor. why?
becouse here lionstracs software developers have an error in their sourcecode, So here begins lionstracs responsibility for that failure to improve the lionstracs part of Qranger sourcecode.

-----------------------------------------

but wine is another story. because user use it to run third party windows software on Linux, and of course you and lionstracs are therefore not responsible.

only support you and lionstracs can provide for wine is continue to update wine on Lionstracs O.S when new version of wine released by publisher and install demo versions provided by third party windows developers and report about that, The same goes for third party Linux software.

and one good idea is to make a list of any third party VST/software works well with wine. each new user who run third party software installed by himself on Lionstracs product can report on the list.

thanks

Thats what i like most about Lionstracs...

They are allways improving their products for free and adding more and more features to the products.

This is where all those Oasys owners have been dreaming about...

Thanks everyone for feedback on my earlier ramblings about supportability etc. Domenico, Sharp and I confirm that the Linux Ubuntu system including WinE will be completely open and unlocked for users who plug in an external monitor. All the software coded or compiled by Lionstracs will be warrantied to work as specified in product literature and described in the user manuals.

If anyone wants to install something else, like 3rd party software or VSTi's, or use the Groove X-R to connect to the Internet, then that's Ok with us, so long as you create a backup of the system's HD first on a USB HD of at least 200 GB capacity. Then if something goes wrong, like a virus attack or a 3rd party application crashes the system, then you must restore the complete baseline system from backup before contacting us for software support. We will also supply a stock of pre-built 200 GB USB backup drives to all distributors.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. Keep it up! :)

vEddy,

Just so you know, I have now re-opened the Lionstracs Forum, and I have created a Groove XR section and started off this list with VST's I use and can confirm work on the Lionstracs and Linux OS.

I am sure many other Lionstracs users will add to it :)
