Get your XL patches here!

Post by ShannonS »

It occurred to me that asking for testers was not the best way to get people using my web patches app.

So instead:
New release of my microKORG XL super patch sharing web app for all your microKORG XL patch needs. Featuring over 300 new and improved user contributed patches.
This release features minor bug fixes and sortable columns so you can see the current #1 rated patch!

http://www.angryoctopus.co.nz/patches/

To make the rating column actually useful please create an account and rate some patches, or else I'll hard code SYNBRASS to 5 stars.

Special thanks to Narfman for his fantastic contributions.

Hi Shannon,

I uploaded 120 more patches for the microKORG XL to the patch sharing site today. Most of these are manually converted from the Radias and MS2000. Also there are some of my originals inspired by these converted patches.

Enjoy, Fran :3dthumbs:

Hey i think this is a really great idea, and i support it fully but it wont work for me. i have write protect off, but it just doesn't seem like java even detects my XL cause when i drag sounds into to say the 'Lead' spot. Nothing happens at all. it might have something to do with the "in" and "out" at the top? i really wish this would work though cause i really like the concept. one more thing the korg xl editor works just fine for transfer so i don't see why this wouldn't work.

You only need to drag patches around to overwrite the stored patches, any patch you click on should be instantly live on your XL. If the microKORG doesn't show up in the midi in/out list it's probably because you are on OSX with an old version of java.

What browser/OS/java version are you running?

Hi!
This seems to be really great project. But I have exactly the same problem as Mikey. I have the latest update Java installed, the latest Korg Midi-USB driver, write protection off on my XL.
But nothing happens, when selecting the sounds in the patches window (yes, the name of the selected sound appears to Current program window, but it does not transmit to the keyboard).

I have:
OSX 10.6.6
Safari 5.0.3
Java for Mac OSX 10.6 update 3
Korg USB-Midi driver 1.1.0

Could you please advise, what I'm doing wrong - I'd really love to start using patches.remixia.com

Thank you for your work!!

In the MIDI in menu: KBD/KNOB
In the MIDI out menu: SOUND and Java Sound Synthesizer

Thanks for help!

I'll have to fire up my old mac mini and check it is working properly on OSX and the correct in/out devices. On Windows/Linux I am pre-selecting the right in/out devices for the XL but I never got round to it on OSX.

I finally got my old Mac Mini up and running after a complete re-install. And your right, it doesn't work on OSX. I'll look into it and hopefully have an updated version up soon.

Well after fluffing around for a few hours around wondering what the hell was wrong with my code it turns out the OSX midi java implementation is pretty half assed and doesn't support sysex messages. You can still use a 3rd party library such as mmj. Just exctract mmj.jar and libmmj.jnilib to your /Library/Java/Extensions and it should work fine.

I uploaded another 127 patches. These were mostly converted from the MS2k Yahoo Group Bank-6. I have an entire collection of MS2k patches that were converted to R3 format. I open the Korg R3 editor and manually copy the parameters into the microKORG XL editor. This takes a while as you can guess. It would be really neat if someone could make a conversion program but I'm not holding my breath....
Enjoy these patches!!! Narfman :soundsgood
