Korg PA3X issues/observations?

Post by Parojon »

Hello All,

So I got my Korg PA3X and here are a couple of observation after a few days, maybe you guys can shed some light on:

1. Speaker: Does anyone hear a faint hissing sound when the keyboard is on Standby mode (keyboard off but plugged in)? Is this normal?

2. When connecting my laptop and enabling USB connection on PA3X, it takes an awful long time for the drive to appear on my laptop? The light on the keyboard keeps blinking for a at least 1-2 min before the icon shows up on my laptop? After it shows up, it takes another minute to display contents?
My PA1X pro took maybe 15-30 seconds. My laptop is pretty new and updated so it is not a slow laptop issue. Has anyone else noticed this lag time?

Regards,

Yes the USB takes ages to synch up but works OK when it does. I can't comment on your speakers, I don't use them myself. I havea mixer / monitor setup.

Biggest issue I have with my PA3X is the 2 minutes it takes to boot up every day - almost as long as the Oasys.

Thanks Steve.
The weird part is that the boot up issue comes and goes for me. One day it takes 30 second to load , another time it takes 3 minutes.

I am not sure whats the problem. I never unplug my unit so the battery should be fully charged. I just use the Standby button.

On Stand BY mode its Faster, If you unplug or turn of on BACK , it,s the battery dies, So TRY to see if this helps, About the long waiting whit PC KORG is the reason, they must FIX it!

Its to slow!

About the noise, I dont no that!

god luck and enjoy the 3 x

Thanks Asena and Gianul for the input!

Gianul, yes the hissing is annoying when the surrounding is quiet, I just thought it was my unit but I guess not.

Asena, exactly my thoughts. Thats why I don't unplug my unit or turn it off from the back, every time I am finished I press stand by and leave it but even then one out of 3 times, it takes 2-3 minutes to load.

I guess we wait and see if more users experience this issue.

@Parjon,
I think the boot time is dependent of the amount of PCM samples you have loaded in your unit. At power up time, all this samples have to be loaded.
If you want to test this out, backup everithing you have on your pa3 and do a factory reset. You'll see, it will take les time to boot up.

Gianul is right. The backed-up memory works this way: the first time all PCM samples have to be loaded from disk. Subsequently, they will be read (much quickly) from the backed memory.

So, loading time will vary depending on the loaded samples, their number, and the status of the back-up memory.

Cheers, Paolo
