If you just bought it then you should contact Korg or your retailer for support. Sounds like there is something wrong if it is trying to read the card at all just when you try to turn it on. afaik it shouldn't have to do anything with the card until you want to load something.

The warranty will allow me to have my week old Electribe to be fixed at a service center, but considering the KORG product service guy had no clue as to what the error meant, I have very little hope for this unit.
That cant be right. I know here in the UK all electrical items automatically come fully covered for a minimum of 12 months under the EU trading standards.
There is no way you can be expected to pay any more than a couple of bucks to post the item back for replacement. Any more than that is certainly illegal here and I would hope its the same where you are.
I had to elevate it & take a claim out w/ebay…Now i'm waiting for my case to close. I warn anyone who finds the cheapest item online to READ the store's fine print extremely closely(yes the print they intentionally make tiny so you cannot read), because they might not cover defective items!

The Electribe manual is very vague on this subject & I can't find any forum topics dealing with this issue.
-brand new EMX1SD
-brand new sd card
(I just tried an alternate sd card & the same message showed up)
Now it feels like I have a $500 paperweight.
Any help would be kindly appreciated!
Yeah, I just bought a new electribe emx1 sd off of Amazon a few days ago. I had the same message "AllF1 Ld Error" with the card inserted and "SM Error" when I took it out. Tried a reset and it did boot up, but it would seem when I turn off the unit for any amount of time, it would go back to the errors. But somehow, when I got the message and then turned off and on the unit quickly, it seems to boot every time. I suspect there is some kind of error with the SD card reader and rapidly turning the unit off and on somehow bypasses this. (hope this doesn't harm the emx)
Sorry for the long winded post. I put in a request at Korg, and thankfully I bought it from Amazon so I can return it if need be. But I'm not sure I want to wait for the whole process if it is something that is minor. In other words its an annoyance, but if the error is nothing major (as well as turning the emx off and on in a rapid fashion) then I can live with it.
Thanks for your reply…I bought a new one & no issues so far.
If I were you, I would return the unit. That issue started as a minor glitch & then only a day later you couldn't perform a quick restart like you mentioned. Amazon has a great return policy(they've sent UPS to my door for return pickups)
Good luck with your EMX, now that I've replaced mine it's one of my favorite pieces of hardware!
