How do I make the length of a pattern shorter than 4 measur?

How do I make the length of a pattern shorter than 4 measur?

I know under the pattern button, you can adjust the Length to 1 at the least, but is it possible for me to make the pattern stop anywhere within the 1st one? Or, just be shorter than (length 1)? Forgive me if my terminology is incorrect. Im a newb. Any help would be much appreciated :)!

I think, you can make bpm twise as fast!

To do this simply set the length to 1 in the pattern options, then use the 'Last Step' function which is accessed with a shift key, and set the last step to something within your first measure.
