Loading saved Kronos samples from an external HDD

Post by Pixar »

I hope one day to contribute some tips or helping others rather than asking questions...In the meantime I'm stuck with seeking answers.

Kronos trouble... I had static (like an AM Radio while playing) I called Korg Japan and they promptly said they'd replace it as it was less than a week old.. Korg said to buy a CD/RW or a HDD and back up all my samples, sequences, combi's and programs I had made...I did.. Saved in a breeze.
My new Kronos arrived Saturday morning. Version 2.0.4 up from the 2.0.2....

I quickly hooked up my USB HDD with my saved user programs, combi's, samples (7) and the one sequence I managed to make before troubles began.

Everything was there and it loaded quickly. I saved to the internal disc then created an "Auto Load" KSC of my samples in Global like I'm supposed to.

Power off...Wait..Power on...
None of my samples would auto load

I tried every way imaginable to get auto load to work. I had to manually re-do convert MS to programs to get them to load every time
(YES, I MADE SURE THE BOX WAS CHECKED FOR AUTO LOAD) I'm not that hopeless. LOL!!!

I finally deleted the KSC from auto load, deleted the samples from the internal disc (RAM still had the samples) went to sampling, re-converted every MS to program manually(then checked my combi's that use samples to be sure they were there), saved to disc again, added the new saved KSC to global auto load waited around 15 minutes then powered down. I waited around 10 minutes then powered on.

Nothing...No sample auto loaded, nothing... I went to sampling and they were there, but they weren't going to the programs I converted them to.

Again, I convert all my samples to their original destinations in the user program, checked the programs and combi's to make sure the samples were there, saved to internal disc, added the new KSC for auto load and so on....Still NO auto load

So I had an idea. I deleted all 7 samples from the internal HD and made all new samples(same things), converted to programs, put them in combi's and saved them, then I saved the new samples to the internal disc. I then went to global, and added the new sample KSC for auto load and powered down.
Waited 10 minutes and powered on...

It worked !! Everything auto loaded.....

So I ask...
Why won't my saved Kronos samples (from an external HD) auto load and not be accepted by Kronos even after I re-convert them to program, save to internal disc and add the KSC for auto load?

Is ther esomething I'm missing?
Is there a trick to doing this from an external HD or is this just the way it is??

im having a similar problem making drum kits with ram sounds and rom sounds in the same kit. when i reload the KSC they are not in the right place. i suppose writing combis and patches insures the autoload.
