Korg Kronos Drum Tracks

Post by onetlitlle »

Hey guys

Do anyone know, how to edit completely selfmade Drumtracks on the Kronos? I mean edit a Rhytm pattern with several drum kits to make it sound individual(without using the preset ones) :)
Maybe you know any Tutorial, cause i dont find anything ...

Sorry for my bad english(this is also my first post) :o

I think that what you're really looking to do is write your own drum kit. It's fairly easy to do, particularly if you use an existing kit as your guide for which drums (like bass drums) go where.

Look in Global for user drum kits (where you should be looking in the manual) and choose one that's fairly close to what you want. Click the pull down menu and SAVE it to a <user> slot and name it.

You open it to edit the same as you would a standard program file, but you'll be presented with a keyboard -- for each key you can choose a multisample to drop in, pick the samples you want for the keys you want to change.

SAVE.

You'll have created a user kit.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You can't use this kit until it is saved as a program. Again, copy a drum kit program to an new slot and adjust as needed for FX, filter, amp and the other parameters you can adjust under program.

Then you can go in under drum track - choose kit - and pick your user kit (program) and see how things sound.

-------

It might seem daunting at first, but really there are only 8 to 10 drums that usually get played in a drum pattern (e.g., by KARMA) or by a drum track - everything else is there mostly to support sequencers that might also use extra percussion. So you basically just need to have a grasp of which of the many multi-sample you want to use to play your Bass Drum (+ maybe a second) Snare (again with a perhaps a second sample or cross stick), Hi Hat (open, closed, 1/2), toms (3 or 4), crash, ride -- extras like tambourine, clap, triangle, ride bell, timbales, congas, etc. will all be mapped already and won't need to change.

I'm not in front of the kronos right now but is there a quick way of seeing what notes the karma drum tracks are playing?
