Has anyone tried loading Soundfont2 files yet?
I just got a Kronos X today and have been hitting it hard all day trying to get a grasp of all the sounds and it's pretty amazing I must say....The thing that really sold me on it was the ability to load our own huge libraries and stream from the SSD....I'm really wanting to sample my NI Abbey Road Modern Drums Library with samplerobot and save it as a soundfont file to load into the Kronos....The reason I'd like to sample it is because my Macbook Pro chokes trying to run it in real time which makes it pretty much useless.....Anyway, I tried to load a small keyboard patch soundfont file that I made and it loaded all the audio fine but it didn't have anything automatically mapped out like it does in the Yamaha XS....There is NO WAY I'm going to be able to put the time into mapping all those samples out because it's going to be hundreds of samples with all the velocities plus left and right....I don't mind doing the release times, attack, effects, etc but mapping everything out is going to be not worth the hassle....Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or does the Kronos only load the audio from the soundfont and you have to start from there.....If that's the case, Maybe I'll have to dig my translator program out and see if it can convert the soundfont into a ksc file....Thanks for any insight....moon
Hello...First I put the usb stick in
2. Press "Disk"
3. Drive Select "usb stick"
4. Select .sf2 file
5. Append to program U-A000 (I can see it loading the sample files)
6. Go to program U-A000 and press keys but nothing sounds
Notes - The sound I tried to load is called Bass.sf2 but the patch U-A000 is called Ensoniq....I sampled it from an Ensoniq board so it kind of makes sense but it doesn't play any sound...I don't know what I'm missing....I tried finding it in the manual and looked online but I can't find anything about it anywhere.....I'm going to set down this evening and start trying to understand how the sampler structure works so maybe that will shed some light....Thanks for any help.....moon

Ok, I haven't done it from a USB stick I copy the sf file to the hd and do it from there.
There was a bug in the older os where you had to save the converted sampled data and load it again to get it to sound in a prog but as you have an X I would think you have the latest os.
I'm away from my Kronos at the moment, In the morning when I am near it I will write some step by step instructions for you, maybe there is something missing.

OK.....Thanks....I appreciate it....I noticed it said samples aren't loaded at the top of the screen.....I was able to get into them in sample mode and get it to play but it doesn't sound multisampled....More like 1 or 2 samples stretched across the length of the board....Drums are absolutely not happening at all....I tried loading a different piano soundfont patch and it loaded the patch name right this time but it reacts exactly the same way otherwise...It seems to load the soundfont into 2 sample slots....One labeled L and the other labeled R for left and right I guess....There should be at least 11 or 12 wav files in each soundfont and many more for the drumkits....I'm not even sure what the capability is but it's got to be able to load gigantic multi velocity samples or else the factory sounds would sound just as S&^tty as what I'm getting out of the soundfonts....LOL.....I'll find the chapter on the sampler and start reading to see if I can make sense of it.....Thanks again....moon
Hi,
Well I just tried it from a USB stick and it worked perfectly for me.
So...
1. What version of the OS do you have? I have 2.0.6 here.
2. How are you creating the SF2 files, what settings in SR?
I have sent by pm a link to a small SF2 file which I just tested with, try that and see how it goes.
cheers
Andy

Keep in mind that on the Kronos for a DrumKit you still have to map every single sample and layer after you load the SF2. There is no other way.

No its not, what you will get is a KMP and all the Samples. You wil have to
create/recreate the whole Drum Kit all over again on Kronos, note by note.
Now, if its Sounds and not Drums its different, you use only the KMP and thats it.

A Drum Kit is a Drum Kit, you have control over every single note as:
EQ, Tune, Transpose, FX Routing, Volume, Pan...also easier integration
with projects and KARMA...i mean is worthless typing, a DK is a DK and
it should be used as one, its there for a reason, no matter how much work
it requires using a KMP for a DK is plainly stupid.

It does not really matter:
1. DK has its own MANY advantages over KMPs later on during production.
2. I don't think it would translate completely as it is in Kontakt on a KMP.
I mean we can go on and on back and forth with reason but the fact is that
a DK is a DK and is there for a reason, making it into a KMP you will lose
all of the advantages and maybe even have problems later on.
