Just realized Kronos case needs small adjustment....

Post by MoonMusic »

I have a rattling noise that is driving me crazy when playing the keys so I kept playing the keys and feeling around until I found the metal strip under the keys isn't over the small ledge on the right endcap...It's under the ledge so it just rattles against it while I'm playing...I'm guessing it wasn't assembled exactly right and taking a few screws out will allow me to readjust the strip over the endcap but would something as small as that void the warranty?......moon

Turns out it is positioned correctly. I too thought it should be over the small ledge and adjusted it that way. Now, looking at the overall lines etc. it is not positioned right. That said, I'm keeping it this way because it adds a great deal of stability to the front strip.

Did you have the excessive rattling I'm talking about and when you re-adjusted it did the rattle reduce or go away?.....I'm usually not one to complain about small superficial things but the noise is taking my concentration away from playing so it's kind of a big deal in a small way....LOL....moon

I don't think every Kronos suffered from this, although many people didn't see it as a "problem".

I bought mine in July last year, and discovered that you could physically press the right hand "lower under keyboard cover bar" (for want of a better description), and it would shift down about 5mm and rattle ferociously when you played the top octaves, which I'm STILL pretty much sure is not supposed to happen.

When I took the bottom cover off to upgrade the SSD and RAM, I realised that the key bar will actually slot INTO the plastic housing on the right hand side a few mm (it's a tight fit, but it will go in), but I take no responsibility if anything should go pear shaped

No more rattles no unwanted movement.

Yes, I noticed when I lightly press down on the metal strip, it will open a very small but noticable gap.....I'm not worried about that because the Kronos as a whole is very sturdy...Under normal use, there is no way it's going to fall apart but it's really just the rattle noise I'd like to eliminate.....Thanks for the info....moon
