You can download a free demo from their web site.

Other programs of interest along the same lines would be Extreme Sample Converter and SampleRobot, also with free demos available.

Yes I have tried all the demos. But, lets be honest until you get into some real heavy lifting you are not going to see where the issues are. Thanks though.

I own chickensys translator 6 for 149$
and i have to say for me it is a crappy piece software.

My experience :
because of a lacking demo i decided to buy it.
internet site said cd are beeing produce within next month.
so in between there is a download version . fine
The promised CD never arrived me. And there is no download version without time limit. ( i moved within the city so maybe thats the reason but if you have to wait for more than 3 months the seller should contact you at least to tell: Hey we have shipped your cds finally)

i got a email response like :
everybody should now have their cds !!
all cds are shipped within the last month.

I contacted them , they gave me an alternative unlocking code, but that expired, too.
maybe the cd is lost in the customs.

In between i could use the software with my keys which expired later.
contact with the chikcensys didn't help much.

whatever now to the product :
if you have lots of samples (more than 1000) it starts to freeze.
To be honest for me the programm freezes every 5 minutes.

After giving it time for about three or four weeks. triying to contact via support site i gave up.

from the demo i would prefer
ESC ats it seems to be very stable and fast (even if it seems to be not maintained anymore)

True, but it doesn't matter when the KRONOS reads a universal file format like SF2 perfectly.

Sharp.

Good point and if you have a SF2 it can be used elsewhere too

I've used Translator quite a bit to bring unprotected Kontakt Libraries into the Kronos. The latest version supposedly supports Kontakt 5, but I haven't had a chance to check that out yet. I've found their support to be generally excellent.

I second their support being quick and very personal. I've even talked to someone about specific problems on the phone was given a 1 of 1 solution from them that they came up with to help me out.

Hi Sharp, also true.

But translator provide some some added value: you can use, as sources, SF2, akai, kontakt, giga, etc. and create a 'all-in' full bank in Kronos format ready to be transfered (giving you the possiblity to organize your sounds on the fly with librarian features).

This being said, you can do the job with other tools. In my case, I do own Translator since many years, and even if not a perfect tool, I am glad to use it.

For new users, best is try before buy.

Cheers

That's the first time I've ever heard someone say that....Kind of threw me for a loop....LOL....

I've actually had Translator for a long time now (came on a floppy when I first got it).....All I can say is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't....The last thing I remember using it for was when I was converting a bunch of stuff for a Yamaha XS and it worked good for that....One thing to remember though is you still have to set up all the parameters after it's in the synth which is still a lot of work.....moon

I just got the Komplete 9 Ultimate too....Not sure if they can be converted or not but if your wanting to gig with it, you may want to look into Muse Research as an option....I just got a customized Qu4ttro a few months ago and it had the Ultimate 9 already installed but it was only a demo (quit working after 30 minutes)....Once I bought K9 Ultimate and had a serial number, I just had to authorize it offline and now that it's unlocked, I have all that in a 2 space module....I also have all the Spectrasonics in it too so it's a pretty awesome box....moon

I know the Muse, and others, but I really want to stick with just the one thing for gigging. Was just wondering if I could bring a sound easily if I really liked it.
