I can speak for my Kronos-x for almost a year. No issues. None at all including keybed or system problems.

Please keep in mind that this forum is international. If you ever happen to experience a problem with your keyboard, it is logical and natural to resort to internet sources. Korgforums.com is the first place you will come across if you really need to ask something. Actually it is surprising that so little problems are encountered with this keyboard, taking into account that thousands of Kronos' are sold all over the world. Of course, in a forum like this, you will not encounter posts like "my K is ok, thanks God!", instead there will be lots of topics complaining about something...

My very early Kronos, Serial 28x, has no issues at all. It is a reliable high quality musical instrument.
The RH-3 Keyboard was fixed by Korg under warranty. This can happen and is not really a big issue.

Very few people have serious problems. Of course these people report here and ask for solutions.
The 10000nds of satisfied users have no reason to report...

My 2 cents...

The keybed issue was an early problem that has been fixed. As stated above the Kronos is an amazing work station. You did not specify if you were looking to purchase new or used?

If you buy new, you should not over react to these infrequent posts on the Internet. Do spend time with the X to make sure it is the right fit for you since it is a complex workstation

Issues - so what?

Post by JPROBERTLA »

I have had some issues with the Kronos, especially occasional freezes in track edit sequencer mode. Korg technical support told me to load a general midi sequence when this happens; I did it and it works for a couple of weeks then freezes again (?) I have never had a start up failure. I got the K61 because I was afraid of the RH2, so I can't really speak to the keybed issue. I have had to develop a few work-arounds and I have polyphony issues; again all in sequencer mode.

All that said, I would not change keyboards for anything. For what I do the Kronos is perfect. Its sounds and user interface are excellent. For me, its major weakness (the organ) was fixed with 2.1.0.

I'm still on the fence regarding the Kronos.

I bought one second hand before I read about all the issues from sustain, fan noise, keybed OS etc and have decided to keep the old M3 anyway. I only had slight issues with the sustain but that seemed to clear up after an OS update. On the plus size, a Kronos 73 only cost me $1000. The fan noise irritates on occasion, but only in ultra quiet situations and it's nice to play weighted keys.

I feel like I've come full circle since my childhood piano lessons. I think the bottom line is that I wouldn't pay full price for a Kronos but one has to be extra careful if one is buying second hand. I got lucky.
