Hello

Once again, thank you all for your help.

Both methods suggested by SanderXpander and Yan26 did the trick. However, now I’m stuck again in a second problem.

The audio export option by SanderXpander is great if you want to export a single track or the whole song as a single audio file. However, if you want to export all the midi tracks as audio (independently) you will end up with a looong and time consuming process (and a huge ammount of disk space consumed by *.wav files, but then, that’s the price you have to pay if you want to deal with audio files).
Imagine you have a 16 midi track song with a, let’s say, 5 minutes duration. If you want to export all the 16 midi tracks as audio files, you will need to record them in Sonar, one by one, adding 16 audio tracks.
That’s why I thought the option suggested by Yan26 would come in handy.

I tryed his method (saved my kronos song in midi format and imported it in Sonar) and now, if I press the “play button” in Sonar, the whole song will play (my kronos will play it, of course). The problem now is: how can I export it to audio?? And, if possible, can I export the 16 midi tracks as audio tacks independently or just as a single *wav file mixing them all?

Greetings

After loading the midi file in Sonar, you will still have to do the exact same thing of transferring the audio per track or the whole song in one go.
That's why I figure my method is quicker, it saves you a step.

If I understood your point, you might not need to export the audio *.wav files from the Kronos to your DAW. You can record the tracks - well - one by one - in the DAW.

SONAR - having the midi tracks of your song already imported - playes the Kronos as an external expander and can record at the same time the Kronos sound to dedicated audio tracks in your DAW. It's quite or nearly the same as using a VSTi.

This is how I do it at least ... ;) and no further export/import is needed.

Hi Salomao,

Ok, so now you have the MIDI file in Sonar and it plays the song.

To Export to Audio:
- with the MIDI file opened up in Sonar, you will now need to record your song as an Audio File.
- Still with the MIDI file opened up in Sonar add an Audio track in the same Project window. Now you will see the New Audio Track and the 16 Midi Tracks.
- Set the Audio Track to receive the your Stereo input, (which will be the audio generated by the Kronos) And Press Record. Now you will see the your Audio file now being recorded.
- Once finished you can select that audio track to be exported to a Stereo Track. I'm not a Sonar user but I'm pretty sure in Sonar if like most DAW the option to Export Mixdown/Audio Track as a Stereo Track would be under the File Tab and most likely say Export Audio. You will may have to ask Corgy as I think he is a Sonar user.
- Now you have your Stereo Audio track, load it on to a USB Device just like you did with the Midi file load it into one of the Audio Tracks on your Kronos.

I hope this is what you are asking to know. Yes this can be a bit of a Time consuming process but that is how it works. SanderXpander he is also right. It's up to you which ever way you feel happier working.

Good Luck.

Yep, I am :D

What Ian26 suggests is the way to achieve your goal as you described it in your first post. Record your Kronos audio, add more audio and/or FX if you like, perfrom a mixdown/mastering and export your master *.wav file to the Kronos.

If you have specific questions how to do it with SONAR throw your questions in here and I will try my best to help... :)
