Kronos and BCR 2000 users

Post by Niarf »

Hello allz,

I bought a BCR2K and I started programing templates but I'm blocked to some knobs : on an AL1 prog, negative values are not recognized. Not cool for negative values in EGs..., Exi's Pan does not respond.

In an MS20 prog, I can make the filter freq knob to move like it should. Same thing for a P6 prog.

I was wondering which parameter do you make on the BCR to achieve good behavior ?

Thanks in advance, I'm stuck =)

Well, you asked for it so here it is. For the encoder you want to use for 0 to -100 for example, make the following settings:

resolution 96
default 16383
minmax 16283 16383
and the value field of the sysex $7F val7.13 val

The resolution will give approximately one turn of the encoder.

To do that you need some in depth knowledge of how to program the BCR. I can't help you with that.

You can also do this in Learn mode on the BCR. However, you're limited to 0 to -127 and you can't set the resolution which defaults to 96. This means that if your parameter only goes from 0 to -10 you'll only get a fraction of a turn on the encoder. To set up the Kronos for learning, go to Global mode and set the midi clock to external otherwise it won't work. And make sure you only send negative values otherwise the BCR will only take the positive values.

Thanks for the answers, I didn't see it... =)

For your first answer, do I access it within bcrmanager or on the bcr itself ? I can't figure out which knob mode I must have to put the res default and minmax values...

Sorry, don't know anything about bcrmanager. There are several editors out there and you should be able to modify the sysex. bcfredit will let you do this for example. You can't change any of these parameters with the knobs. You have to do it by program before you load the preset into the BCR. You have to remember that the BCR is really designed for standard MIDI and it doesn't know anything about sysex except that it will transmit a sysex string if it's provided.
