Kronos and headphones

Well, for 17 years I have been using some Sony MDR V-600 headphones. Reviews of these where a mixed bag but I really like them. I did however want a new pair, with the Sony's being closed I decided on an open or semi open pair. I got the DT 88o Pros. I also love them but they do have a completely different character then my Sony's. Frequency response goes a bit lower and higher and they do sound like it in the bass, very comfortable and being 250 ohms I do have to turn things up a bit more then normal to get a similar volume as the Sony's. All in all it is nice to be able to hear what's going on around me in some cases where with the closed headphones that was difficult. Thanks to everyone who helped me find these.

Cool! I have the 990s myself, very happy with them! I hear the 880s are great too.

I looked at the 990s as well but they let more sound out and I want to hear around me but also not let everyone hear why I am listening to too loudly, these seemed like a nice trade off.

Funny but these fit my small cranium better as well. The Sony's on the tightest setting still rode a little low over my ears these 880's center nicely over my ears. They also seem lighter, newer tech maybe?

I have got the 880 too. I love them, because they have an almost linear frequency response, there is little they add to the audio themselves and this makes them more of an analytical tool rather to be headphones only. This may be the reason that your audio experience is different compared to the Sony headset.

I think the BDs in general are pretty bass and treble heavy, the 990s more so than the 880s. But I honestly don't mind that because they sound very open and detailed to me. Apart from checking out the occasional track or audio clip in detail, I don't really use them to mix, only to play and they're very enjoyable for that.

Bertotti, I think you made the good choice

I also have the DT880 Pro and they sound great !
Really flat and wide frequency bandwidth.

They do have more bass and treble then my sony but the so t had a very lo bass also these just go lower. So far they are the most comfortable I have had. Really had a hard time choosing since where I live all the stores cater to listening on music players so I couldn't just go out and try some.

When I put my headphones on and play, my wife says my Kronos sounds like thudding, in the key of thud.
