If this was a modeled synth, I could agree with this. However they already START with "static" samples. Then generally it's ADSR, LFO's, and a filter which are pretty much standard.BasariStudios wrote:In 90% of cases Sampling never really works...especially on synths like JDNuSkoolTone wrote:Very Nice! and few others. It will be a waste of time. What makes this synths WHAT
they are is their ability to manipulate the Sounds, once Sampled, its Static,
probably it won't even sound like a JD synth. Then you will be better of
Sampling from some VSTs, you might get higher quality sounds.
Of course I need to double check the architecture saying this, but unless it's using special LFO types or filters it'll sound about the same. Really, how much for most uses will one be sweeping filters and using unique LFO's? Most of that work is the realm of VAs now IMO.
I really need to play with this and see what's unique, but honestly it's just been sitting collecting dust after getting one (WITH the vintage expansion card!) for a good price. I also got the memory expansion cause I couldn't believe how few patches it could hold!
I think it will be a matter of which patches are really using the filters and any effects that are unique to the Roland. Perhaps I'll do a test patch and run side by side and see how close I can get the filters etc. Chances are it'll be fine
