I guess so and actually, thinking about it, it would be a great feature sending program changes tooSanderXpander wrote:I can understand why this would be helpful in your specific case, but to be honest I don't really see it happen. Michel, for point 6 I meant for DAW integration, not the on-board sequencer.
I don't use my Kronos in the studio much but that is at least in part because it's a hassle to do so.
Imagine to have your backing tracks linked to your click tracks that determines the internal clock, you can use your programs, combi and drum track at that tempo and don't have the limitations you have in sequencer mode.
Unfortunately the audio input is not a solution, for me that play prog rock with meter and tempo changes I'm forced to use the internal sequencer or a midi sequancer if I want to use programs or combis that use tempo based effects like an echo, a phaser etc.etc.
You can already automate significant sound changes, maybe this is an option for you.
KRONOS discontinued!

I totally agree with you. Unless of course they have something ten times better in the pipeline.Dniss wrote:How can the Kronos be discontinued, it just came out! People are still considering buying this workstation. Seriously.
If need be, Korg will just use a different mobo. Not a huge task to migrate. Selling it for a longer time will help spread the develpment costs.
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

A life cycle of 4 years sounds acceptable for products like this, if its discontinued then there might be an upgraded version available probably at Namm 2015... Wether this is to be a whole new instrument or just a minor update with new hardware remains to be seen..jeremykeys wrote:I totally agree with you. Overhere in Holland, they are still in stock at most places, it might just cover till early next year..
Well...nope, with the sequencer you are still constrained to the 16 tracks ordered in that way and with the shared FXs.SanderXpander wrote:In other words, use the sequencermetallo wrote:I guess so and actually, thinking about it, it would be a great feature sending program changes tooSanderXpander wrote: I can understand why this would be helpful in your specific case, but to be honest I don't really see it happen. You can use program changes and even sysex with some trickery.
Seriously though, it sounds as if you simply want a separate device for backing tracks and click and be able to switch your Kronos every which way on the fly. Consider a laptop or an iPad. I don't think the Kronos or its successor will ever allow completely independent simultaneously running modes.

I'm already using an ipad for that actually but it would be great for what I need to have everything in the kronos.SanderXpander wrote:You can use program changes and even sysex with some trickery.

I don't need program change, it would be just great to have a backing track manager that links with the internal click of the kronos but you can use without sequencer so you can switch all the programs and combis you want.
Yep I know it wouldn't happen eventually.....unfortunately

The problem is you'd have to link midi and audio together which is by nature a function of the sequencer. It's less simple than you might think. But yeah it works pretty well with iPad! Which app are you using? I'm very happy with Setlist Maker, although I don't use backing tracks I do use program changes and after some setting up it's really easy to rearrange songs and sounds on the fly, away from the Kronos (e.g. in the break room).
I know it's not straightforward but nothing in the kronos is, at least for meSanderXpander wrote:The problem is you'd have to link midi and audio together which is by nature a function of the sequencer. I'm using SyncInside that is specific for backing tracks.
Has a unique feature, for each backing track you can have a click track associated and you can route the click track to the audio output of the ipad and the backing track to the usb audio, in this way you have stereo backing tracks and stereo click tracks.
I plug both the outputs (audio and usb) into the kronos and I route the backing tracks (USB in) to the output 1 and 2 and the click (AUDIO 1 and 2 in) to the output 3 and 4
