Great forum by the way. Ive tried several midi program with my Kronos 61
and cant seem to make it work. All I want to do is instead of working with kronos seq, I want to run through my computer with a simple midi program so I can tweak it on my computer windows 8.1 than save it as a song or midi file and then save it in kronos. Have the new driver installed. but cant seem to get the programs like Studio one to interact with Kronos. Maybe the new 3.0 OS will help. Maybe some one can help me the settings in global. Im trying to use the USB to computer.

Hi,
Sounds like what you want is similar to what I am doing. I am creating backing tracks in Cubase 7.5, both MIDI and Audio and then transferring them as Audio and MIDI data to my Kronos where they go into the sequencer.
The MIDI tracks get exported as a single MIDI file of course, and I render the audio as separate WAV files for each Audio track in the seuqnecer.
Seems to work pretty well.
So it depends on what your criteria for a "simple" MIDI program is? If you don't already have a DAW and think something like that would be too much and wish to try out some free ones, then maybe something like this? http://www.anvilstudio.com/
Or REAPER (http://www.reaper.fm/) has a very good reputation, and only costs $60 for its discounted license, and you can demo before purchase.
Please note, I don't use either of those sequencers, so cannto give specific advice on them. Any questions on Cubase and how I use it with the Kroonos are fair game!

I recommend Zynewave Podium Free:
http://zynewave.com/podium-free/
The limit of the free version is just one MIDI Input and one Output device which should be enough when you only have the Kronos connected to your PC.
The full version is only $50

Can't connect
My problem is that I get midi notes in these programs but they wont play any sounds. Cant even hear the metronome or any playback. and I've tried many programs. I think that there is a setup in kronos that I'm missing. Using Reaper now same thing. If there is any one out there who uses a pc to work midi files with Kronos please help me out.

NO SOUND FROM KRONOS
When you are using the usb for midi does that carry the output back to Kronos?
