Does anyone know why this happened?

Post by lluvaas »

I'm not sure how to explain this, but I'll give it a try because I'd really like to know why this happened. I was using a Program patch and when I went to another patch one of the sounds from the previous patch stayed with the new one. I discovered that all of my patches had the same sound. I tried turning the workstation off and then rebooted only to hear the same again. Then I unplugged the USB cable and rebooted. This got rid of the lingering sound/note/audio…..Anyway: something happened and I'm not sure what it was except that these electronic devices do weird things at times. I was concerned I'd have to take my Kronos into the shop for repair, but I was able to fix it myself.

I hope someone has an answer. Thanks once again! :?:

This is a normal Kronos feature, called Smooth Sound Transition. It allows to avoid sound cut when you change program number.

Hi,

If it is SST, as suggested by coyote144, then the sound of the old patch should stop as you release the held keys during the patch change, assuming you are holding any! Also, the held sounds should cut if you advance more than one program, as SST can only transition one program.

I've had problems with "hanging notes" that don't stop unless you reboot or change patches several times, but I now believe they are an external influence due to a controller (CC) I use on my FC300 I use being the same as the MIDI sustain controller, which causes a problem when the channel number matches the Kronos channels in use in a combi. So it's worth checking what external controllers you use (if applicable) and whether or not the Kronos is responding to those.

HTH

To be fair to the nice people in Korg UK, they suggested that this was the most likely cause of my hanging note problems. I didn't quite believe them at the time, but they were correct, although it's taken me while to track down the external cause. :)

Yes I also think, that is a midi problem. Have you some other devices connect to your Kronos?

My Kronos is the center of a studio with additional 5 voice generators, Sometimes the sound is hanging and only could handle with the panic button of my midi patchbay...

With my CME UF 88 or my trinity there's no such problem. I'm looking for a solution in the midisettings but in this moment I don't found the cause.
Love and peace to everyone :-)
