Convert Timbre from Combi to a Program with all MFX and IFX
HI,
My Korg Kronos recently arrived and I already installed 3.02 as the latest OS. I think that no E-Piano Programm sounds as good as the timbre in the Combination 001 Smooth Jazzmitazz (EP-1). Now I would love to just take the Rhodes and convert it into a Program with all its MFX and IFX. Is that somehow possible or can I at least somehow easily copy the the MFX- and IFX-Settings of the Combi to a Mark V in a Program?
Thanks for your help

Definitely. You'd have to do it in two phases, but it's doable.john.jackson1982 wrote:HI,

Go into the IFX page of that program that you want to put the new effects on. Turn the existing effects off (This also means assigning them to "no effects", not just turning them off)
Once the program is dry, then press the pulldown menu in the top right and there should be something that says "Copy IFX" or similar. This will bring you to a page where you can choose the program you wish to copy the effects from, which effect and where you'd like to put them. In this case, you should be able to select All IFX. This will get you the routing and layout for your IFX.
Now tap on the TFX/MFX page, and follow the exact same process to get your main/master effects and total effects copied into the program too.

I'm not sure you can copy IFX from a combi to a program. Since you're just doing one, I would just examine the combi IFX structure and copy it manually to the program. Shouldn't be that hard.
Secondly, any reason to make it a program? I mean I rarely use a single program...ever. I always play through combis. There are several advantages to running combis like being able to run backing tracks, multiple sounds across several keyboards etc.
I guess if you have a limited amount of combi memory locations that could be a reason.

The easiest way to do this is to mute the unwanted sounds in combi or turn them to off and set midi zones for the whole keyboard for the Ep and copy the smooth jazzmeister to a new combi and you do not have to mess with the EFX. Viola.

[quote="john.jackson1982"]Thanks for your quick answers. Of course you are right, it is also totall fine to just have the combi. I was just curious and maybe I thought there would have been an easy way, that I dont have to create or change combis. You cannot copy combi to program IFX as far as i know.

I agree it's a very good sound.
The Rhodes is routed through IFX6 (Stereo Dyna Compressor) and then mixed with reverb and finally to TFX1 St. Tube PreAmp Modeling. That's it.
Don't forget the three band EQ which can be set independent of the original program. And looking at the settings +12 Hi, +2.5 @ 820 and +7.5 lo, I could see how they can make an impact.
The other thing I often do if I find a setup that sounds good is to save the effect setting as a preset. That way, when I'm thinking of using a compressor on a different sound, I can quickly pull up settings that are known to be good.
