I think you missed it
we need TIME to make something.
I don't know for the other but I'm working and don't have time in the week, only saturday/sunday (and for this one i will be at a 4x4 contest planned from long date)
If you want to have a cool poll it's better if you have more participants :P

Oh I know. Gotta set a precedent and stick to the deadlines though. I've already extended this one two times. Once it's over I'm going to either start Sample Battle II or encourage someone else to host it. I want to make this a regular event on here so there will be plenty of opportunities to join in. And as far as I'm concerned there is no reason why you couldn't post your TITANS OF SMOOTH entry after the contest just so people could hear it anyway. I can say for sure that I'm interested in listening to whatever you do :)

I was thinking it might be fun if say the winner picks the next challenge? Or you start number two and winner of number one picks number three,etc...so there s no delay be tween challenges? Might make it interesting. Winner two picks challenge four, winner three picks challenge five, and so on.

Just a thought. And ending on a weekend probably works best for most. I won't have much time except Sunday to work on mine. Thanks

How about one challenge per month?
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

thanks for setting this up, this was good fun. Havent used my es1 in ages, and even then, I was only using it as a drum machine, so this was something different! Looking forward to the next one!

I'm glad that you and others are enjoying it. I personally really love seeing how other folks put the Korg samplers to work.

Once this poll is over I'm willing to either pass the reigns on to the winner or just as happy to create Sample Battle 2. I have some ideas already!

Super bummed to have missed the first one, I just couldn't come up with anything over the weekend and should have started something earlier. Next time I shall give it a better try.

I enjoyed all 3 submissions. I ultimately gave my vote to apapdop. All 3 submissions were great, but the ambient direction and structure of of apapdop's drew me in. Nicely done!

Well, My weekend Got Hosed. I'm on Call 24/7, and this weekend was one of the rare weekends I had to work both days, all day.

I'm almost embarrased to post this, its really justa loose collection of patterns recorded quickly in a hotel room monday night. I couldn't get the WIFI to work.

So whatever, Here it is in a Drum'n'Bass style remix.; I actually like the direction it is headed and may make a finished track out of it:

https://soundcloud.com/thesigma/wip-cherish-the-bass

All samples where cut in ableton, no additional processing, except single cycle wavs were cut in adobe audition, again, no additional processing. Everthing else is ESX. It's live, a little sloppy, not rehearsed much, and not finished, particularly the transitions were something I needed to work on.

Biggest Challenge for me was the Vocal is phrased differently than the Drums, there were only a few places you could cut loops. and making decent synth sounds on the ESX is always a challenge. I didn't use anything from the wildcard sample, just one loop from the tin drums and the rest frome the SADE track.

Hope someone enjoys it...
