Style conversion

Post by mrniceneasy »

I've found an interesting method of converting Yamaha styles to Korg pa keyboards using Markers without the need for a pc sequencer. It can take up to three small programs to convert the styles but generally two will suffice. I have written a Tutorial which includes explanations and links to the completely free software.

I have only just worked out this method but have successfully converted a few styles quite easily, Imported them to pa and found that they only needed minimal work.

Hope you find it useful!

The Tutorial is HERE

:)

Nice,
If pa3x allows for import of marker separated midi file (like PA600 ) (Shift Execute)

You could also give this a try: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=98824

Hi Amit, thanks for the reply. I have tried your software but only a couple of styles that I tried to Import using both individual and shift on the pa were to my liking and to me did not load correctly. Needed a lot of work. The method and software I've described worked perfect on the few styles that I've converted with very little work so I assume that the rest will convert correctly as well. When I have time I'll do more. I do appreciate your efforts in providing software for our keyboards and thanks for your software.

Hi mrniceneasy,
Very interesting. I have a question; with your method can we convert the Yamaha's styles that have sample sounds (not factory's sound) into Korg Pa 900?
Thank you

Hi BR, No sorry that's not possible. Only midi data can be transferred. You can add your own samples from your pa though. :(

interesting,
Thx, i'll try your method too and try to find why they differ, as they shouldn't In most cases.

Thank you for sharing Mrniceneasy.
I quickly tested and I can say it's working if you don't forget to select the SMF 0 format in MidiFile Splitter Options.

I did the test only on one style for the moment. The result is not sounding good so far because sounds selection is far from perfect, and the original style was probably poor too, but I will give it more try in the coming days.

Congratulations to have understood how all these tools can be used together to facilitate the conversion. 8)

Thanks Mamienova. I'll amend the Tutorial to include the check on midi file option in midi file splitter.
