Samples / sounds wanted
I'm looking for the following two unrelated sounds to load onto a Kronos. I'd like some recommendations, with my priorities being:
sound - it should sound like the original
input ease - it should be easy to load onto a Kronos, already mapped to keys, etc.
cost - it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg
I know that they may be available through the Korg Store, but if there's a better version out there, I'd prefer to get the other version. But if the Korg Store version is great, then that's the one I'll go for.
First, the Mellotron. I know that I can get raw samples from Mellotron.com, but I'd prefer not to assign to keys, etc. I'm also interested in more than just the basic strings. Is there a relatively comprehensive library of Mellotron tapes that can be easily (and cheaply) loaded onto the Kronos. Ones that act like the mellotron, with the seven second time limit, etc.?
Second, moving in the complete other direction. I'd like to play classical (as opposed to romantic, modern, baroque, etc.) piano music on an instrument that more sounds like what Mozart, etc., actually played. The modern instrument is a wonderful thing, but it's not quite right for that style. I know that there's at least one Mozart era piano in the Korg Store. But is it the best? (Or cheapest if they're of similar quality.)
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance...

I think that the only Korg's store classic Grand for your purpose is the Austrian Piano , for my taste is the
Italian Grand Piano of WavesArt Piano's Suite http://wavesart.eu/KronosEXs
As concerning Melotron , all today existing tapes are in bad condition with disordered tape magnetic field ,
I know it from first hand since I've just denoised ,healed and recovered a Mellotron's strings tape for the
new WavesArt's "Legend Synths Suite" Kronos HD1 Sound Library with more than 10 legend monster
synthesizers like Oberheim, Synclavier, MG, Fairlight & Emulator among others , sampled with their own
assymetrical LFO's & detuning that can't be recreated in Kronos without lossing 32 notes polyphony per key ...
This collection will be published shortly in above website ...

As far as the Mellotron goes, the Kronos does contain Mellotron strings, brass, flute and choir. These are fully sampled and end after ~8 seconds. On the original Kronos you'll find them in U-A071 thru U-A085.

Check out Bolder Sounds EXS-101 library. It contains a Fortepiano. You can listen to a sample here Inexpensive too.

I wasn't that impressed with the stock Mellotron patches in the Kronos, but haven't played with them as I have the EX5Tech MEL-LABs in my EX5 (an amazing achievement in 16MB memory), and my goto source for Mellotron in the studio is GFORCE MTRON Pro (and the additional Streetly tape archives).
The Korg shop has Karo libraries that look like they cover Mellotron, which may be worth checking out.

Why not just download the fortepiano and it and try it out? Nothing to lose.Thoraldus wrote:Check out Bolder Sounds EXS-101 library. It contains a Fortepiano. You can listen to a sample here Inexpensive too.
