This isn't a factory setup. I visited OWC thanks to an earlier link posted and ended up spending way more than I expected but got what I wanted.... I think.
Check out the specs and the data doubler. I ordered the Pro versions.

EW....Hollywood Strings is a mind blow. EWQL Orchestra if you need the whole Orch soundset...but its a bit dated at this time. SoundDrum 1 and 2 is fantastic. Spaces convolution reverb is utterly stunning.
Beat/Groove....NI Maschine is all you need. Its also a sampler, so any other sounds you like you can add, and its workflow for this is super simple and creative.

no mistake in buying Anything from them. The best buy so far can be ONLY
Goliath since it is the BEST from the BEST...meaning you get a little of everything,
treated as a Sound Module...a Workstation Module, with everything you need
as far as Sounds go. Inside you will find StormDrum, SteinwayB, Bosendorfer250,

I pretty much hated what I heard from Goliath. It has a bit of everything, but not as detailed as the rest of their range. Waste of money. Guitars are a f*ck*ng JOKE in Goliath. I have my Orange Tree Samples Evolution Guitar, thank you very much. It is head and shoulders above anything EW offers, yes, including MOR and MOR2.
And make sure you have a supercomputer, because EW doesn't know how to optimize their sample engine. I've heard and seen a great deal of horror stories which included PLAY 1, PLAY 2, and PLAY 3, all in their different versions. Some people who had PLAY 2 working very good were appalled when PLAY 3 didn't want to cooperate, and EW marketed it as the motherfucking holy grail of an update. Bleh. Most shady marketing ever from any company. Yep, their stuff sounds great (except the pianos which are way too overbloated and unoptimized and have their own set of issues), but they have issues with public relations and admitting the bugs that are obviously theirs, not your DAW's or your hardware's.

Lucky you.
No, it doesn't need a "good" computer. A "good" computer is a, say. 2.5 GHz dualcore with 4-8 GB of RAM. Kontakt is a very happy camper with this configuration. But PLAY? Noooo...
PLAY needs a motherfucking behemoth with i7 or Xeons and 24 GB of RAM and SSD arrays. IF you want to run Hollywood Strings smoothly. No other option. And when PLAY is concerned, running it on PC is better than running it on Mac.

Of course Play works better on PC since i have both, tested it many times.
Now, i run it on i7 860 Quad or i7 980 Six cores both with 8GB RAM maybe
thats why i see no problems but i believe it can work on some weaker machines,
some of my friends run it on Dual or smaller Quad cores.

I agree Goliath is a bit of a dud compared to all the other dedicated EW libraries. Its diverse if you have nothing else and need a turnkey sound set...but not spectacular in most ways.
I have Hollywood Strings working just fine on a MacPro 8 core with 2 SSD's holding and streaming the samples. 100% stable and flawless.
Play 3 Beta is rock stable and way more efficient on Mac than the prior version. Should be released full version shortly (weeks to months).

Maschine is already on my list. Dropping by Guitar Center later.
Thanks for the input on EastWest guys.
My configuration is dual SSD (480gig and 240gig OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6g) in the following MacBook Pro:
15-inch: 2.2 GHz
2.2GHz quad-core
Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5
Don't try it or should be good to go? Or somewhere in between?
