Personally I don't want Big Red X, I like my Kronos the way it is appearance wise. For resale I could give a rat's ass I am not ever selling this so really the swap to the X would be specifically for Did Korg fix issues or just Put an X to take our concentration off the older problem boards.
Reason I am waiting it to find out what issues are going to arise from the New X, I still have a year to swap this out so plenty of time to wait watch and read.
And yes I know about the ability to adjust the volume of damper mechanical noise and all that in the options. I have to run mine at -25db or I hear it extremely easily and very loud. If I have it set to 0db it sounds like garbage, loud ringy noisy. I hear it when listing to headphones from the Kronos, hear it with my Quarter inch cables, and with midi so its inherent on all tracks with any recording I do.
Now I do have the 88 Kronos with the RH3 but what is this velocity you are talking about?
I know its been posted but Kronos X upgrade to it or not?

Yeah your right.. no reason to do this but just asking.. I would never load every sample engine on my Kronos then activate them illegally.. that is wrong..

Exactly. Assuming the Kronos is similar to the OASYS, there is a physical card inside the unit that drives the Machine ID. Each Kronos will have a unique Machine ID.curvebender wrote:You can't "share" activation codes.KronosX wrote:If you have 3 buddies that all have Kronos and you all buy additional EX sample sets? They are linked to the machine ID of any given Kronos.
The activation codes are generated based on both the Machine ID and the expansion.
It would be stealing if you could share Activation Codes, but you can't share them even if you wanted to.

natural piano mechanism sounds

Do you hear it when you play directly from the Kronos or when using another keyboard MIDI wired to it?
In the last case, a velocity of 127 is used making the noises even harder.

You're right, I was playing the KRONOS piano from an external weighted keyboard that didn't send release velocity, so the piano release "noises" were set to maximum...hmmm, maybe that's one reason why the KRONOS pianos sound better on a 73 / 88 with the built-in RH3 keybed...
When this first came to light, I contacted Korg. The Kronos piano mechanical noise for note off/release is set to default 64 for keybeds that don't send it.
