All my dreams torn assunder.
It's not a bad machine but only if compared to a Krome of MOXF6.
The workstation as an alternative to DAW's is dead. And maybe that's a good thing. Computer are to cheap and powerful these days to be not the better workstations. But Apple needs to build some computers with touchscreen now and Logic has to use them in a satisfying way.

I think all the manufacturers have reached the conclusion that symbiosis is the way to go for hardware workstations and DAWs, not one vs. the other.
When it comes to Roland's new releases the AIRA products are more interesting to me than the FA.
It's obvious that Roland wanted to make sure not to step on the Integra's toes with the FA, so they did not include the entire sound collection of the Integra but only a selection.
And with the Fantom G being 6 years old and hard to get, Roland is without any high-end representation in the workstation market.

Of course the FA 06/08 are not meant to compare to Motif XF or Kronos/Kronos X, but it's rather placed to the midrange category, in par with MoXF and Krome.
What's really interesting is their decision to give supernatural libraries for free, since them abandoning the ARX series and converting them to free software updates, rather than pushing (e.g. Fantom-G) owners to buy expensive expansion boards.
Pricing and category aside, I can't understand why in earth they insist on excluding aftertouch from their machines. Is it that much cost effective?

I am interested in the FA08. I currently have the RD300NX which has the same keybed and love it. i also have a Mininova for nice fat synth sounds. All this into a uSB mixer connected to Logic on Mac.
I love playing piano and, as long as it has SuperNATURAL pianos it could be a nice tidy replacement. Yes, workstations are pretty useless if you have a dAW but i still need an 88 note weighted piano that could also be used live and i love the graphics on the colour screen...very Tron.
