To close the subject, the note cut off problem is gone.

The cut offs I had right after installing new contacts went away. No cut offs in last 4-5 days. I did not reopen/refit.
Maybe something went slightly not right during initial fitting, and contacts needed some stretching to fit in.
Also PIP confirmed they sent latest improved contacts.

This is my first post and I'm sorry to come back to this topic.
I Bought a used Kronos and I have the cutoff issues.
I already read all the topics about it.
I did change the rubber contacts for the new and improved blue ones.
It improved but I still have notes cutting off.
I enter test mode. It was already in KDP1. I did't do anymore test though.
There was KDP2 and KDP5 options too, but I didn't try it out.
OS and Firmware updated.
What else can I do?
I love the board but this issue is annoying....
I'll will appreciate any help.

I did not look at that, but you can get whole new keybed, not just rubbers.
Or use another keyboard as midi controller
Or get to like the cut off

The way I see it is that this issue is inherent to the first model, contact change reduces the issue significantly, and probably might even eliminate it, if you're lucky. New keybed would probably fix it, I saw other posts confirming that, but no experience myself.
Mine still cuts off, but very rarely now. Once every few weeks or so, and it use it every day. If you read my previous posts, it was happening for me too right after change, and seemed to went away with playing.
I exercised the keybed after replacement by going through each key and pressing it with different velocity.

If you find something new, pls post.

Sorry to learn you're having problems.
As you know,there have been many posts on this subject and I can't really add much to them,except the following suggestions.

If they're the same group of notes that are affected,it's possible the rubber contact strip for that sector of keys may not be fully seated,or not clean enough.
Same could apply for the whole keyboard,but there is only a slim chance that a re-fit would be beneficial.
Perhaps worth a try,though.

Usually, following a rubber contact replacement KDP1 is used.....in your case indicates that the rubber contacts are not original.
Don't really know what difference it makes,though,but there must be a reason for it to be available.
KDP1 is also used whenever the whole keyframe (keybed) has been replaced.


It may also be worth doing the velocity check in test mode,as per manual (if you have one…)skip all the other ones, then,if it passes that, choose the KDP1 again and save etc.
I've not heard of a KDP 5…..
Maybe this has been added to later models following the original.

I must add that entering test mode is meant for workshop personnel only, Korg frown on the idea that some owners attempt this and advice us not to do so.

If this was a private purchase,would it be possible to contact the previous owner for some information,history etc ?

I'm largely a blues and rock'n'roll player, and so am often throwing glissandos in with my playing, in both directions on the keyboard. I'm currently playing a 12-year old Yamaha S80, which has withstood this onslaught well.

I'm trying to decide between a weighted and non-weighted Kronos, and one of the factors I'm trying to learn about is what experience people have had with frequent side-pressure on the keys, as from a glissando, to see if there are any concerns.

Any insight you can share is appreciated.

I find it really hard to judge whether or not my glissandi are similar to yours but I do plenty and my original K88 is fine after three and a half years. My friend's S90 is not, by the way. Everything is relative.

Thanks for the quick reply, Sander. I suspected that was the case, but wanted to throw the question out there in case there were any bad experiences. Now it comes down to size and weight arguments (in my head, of course ).

So nice to see a post on that after so many years. It brings back old memories

As for my original Kronos, I have still been using it, almost every day since then. After contact replacement in 2015, I had some cutoffs initially, but it went away as I used the keyboard. Now all has been fine for years.

Thank you for your update. I would like answer from users for which the blue rubbers did not solve the problem.
Not sure the blue rubbers and the software path didn't change the velocity neither.
By the way, what was/is your serial number ?
There's a common "rumor" that serials after 3671 would be free of that
problem.

Also read this table to try to know if #4000+ are really free.
