+1 - if it is not too much trouble for you, Sharp.

Put a "General Kronos Talk" area on top of the subforums and then topics as named above. This would also solve the problem with the growing amount of stickies on top of the general forum.

The more Kornos users come here, the more different kinds of questions are debated, and the faster you find what you are after in subforums.

The pure fact that we debate that here, by the way, shows what a big and vivid user base the Kronos has after one year. There's not many synths out there which could make good use of subforums after such a short time.

Jahrome, it's not that serious.

Some Oasys owners wanting to believe that they can make the jump across the nasty Kronos, to the big red X, and have something special again?

Perhaps Korg should launch a Kronos VIP version, called Kronos "Oooh", with a golden O where the X is now, with gorgeous extra 16 Gb of RAM (of which 3 can be adressed), and a separate VIP forum section in here?

Just want topoint out AGAIN that the only difference between Kronos and Kronos X will be the extra 1GB of RAM pre installed and the larger capacity SSD. Its simply a matter of storage. ALL other features are software upgrades which exisitng Kronos users will be able to download. Exisitng users will be able to bring their Kronos up to the new specs.

The latest KORG UK newletter states the following....


"New Ver 2.0 Available Free for Existing KRONOS Owners

The new Ver 2.0 OS will be available as a FREE download to install into existing KRONOS keyboards giving all the new software features. A KRONOS can also be returned to KORG UK to have an upgrade kit fitted adding the additional PCM RAM and a 2nd SSD drive. Please check on www.korg.co.uk for more details."

However I cannot see any more details on the KORG UK site when I last looked?

I don't know if I would like multiple sub folders. I think the current situation is very clear now, with just one set of folders. If you come here daily or even weekly one can scan through the topics very fast. With multiple sub folders you have to scan in even more folders.

It all has it's pros and cons, yes.

But I would find it very helpful NOT to look at the stickies on top all the trime, only when one of them is of interest: then I would find it it the "Kronos hardware" section for example.
And for the rest it is really hard to keep good overview for people not coming here daily: they have to do extended searches to find what they are after.

I think that would help a lot: we could look for "Kronos sound design" tpoics in one folder and find related quetsions much faster, including the search within such folders, etc.

From my view the advantages of subfolders would significantly outweigh the disadvantages. What do you others think?

I agree. I'm also on the Hauptwerk forum, which has a number of sub forums, and the Administrators are often having to move posts to the "correct" sub forum. It's a pain. I've even tried to figure out which sub forum a post should go in, make my post, only to have the Admin move it.

My philosophy is KISS. One forum for Kronos / Kronos X is the best. Read the new posts (and respond) for any topic that is of interest to you, and skip the rest.

Isn't this how everything else operates? Facebook, for example. No one, surely is reading all that junk, but scanning to locate the posts that are of interest.

We also need to keep things easy for the Admin of this board to administer. Don't forget, it's not just Kronos on here. They are already more than busy enough, I suspect!

Also on the Karma forum there are lots of sub groups and it is very hard to find a subject back later.

Also except for the latest workstations/synths there are about 5 posts a day, that's about 1 screen of scanning for people viewing korgforums.com once per week.

For me personally I like it the way it is now, but maybe I am a bit more different user than others, since for PCG Tools I (at least) scan the topics for all supported workstations (about 10 now). If I would have to check also each sub folder, that means a lot of unnecessary clicking.

Maybe some other compromises/workarounds/ideas:
- Use keywords in a topic to be able to find it back later (possibly with a change of the forum to easily find them). Like: Kronos, Sound Design, HD1, Filters or T1, startup, hardware, failure.

Another way is to use sub folders that store topics, but ALSO keep them in the main list. So the sub folders serve more as a sort of easy hierararchy, but for browsing the main folders can be used. I.e. all topics are both in the main folder and (possibly) in a specific sub folder. Those sub folders can be e.g. Bugs, Sound Design, Software, Sampling, ... But I can imagine you don't want to have 10 sub folders to prevent cluttering up the main folder. (or use one sub folder) that contains all the specific sub folders.
