Cool! Consider it scrubbedDerek Cook wrote: Sorry, I never got back to you on the Shine On lead, but you can scrub that one, as I got to the point where I now think the Kronos exceeds the Nord G2 patch that I was using.
Odd request: Can I make a sound for you; Kronos

Surprised this sound isn't already lurking in a stock Kronos or it wasn't included in the new famous sounds bank!Bart S. wrote:Hi enigmahack,

Here's the sample - I only did the intro with the piano and synths, but I didn't know how much you needed. This is a good start though.roundand wrote:Wow, that's really impressive work.
What about Coldplay's "A Sky Full of Stars"? That would be really nice, including the filtering.

The PCG is here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/490 ... lStars.PCG
The chords are all assigned to the pads too (If you have an Oasys, it should be compatible, otherwise if you have the Korg NanoPad 2 then this is assigned to the first 6 upper pads which will trigger the chords as shown in the example.
That said, the filter is on knob 5, the Piano is on Slider 1 and the Power synth is on Slider 2.
In the demo, excuse the mis-triggers. My NanoPad is acting up and I'm getting it replaced, just waiting for the store to get a new one in that doesn't misbehave.
Enjoy!

Which part? The Intro? The whole song? (This would be more than 1 Combi)

Hello enigmahack-
I must say... your ability and talent to re-create & program these sounds are truly amazing! Thanks for all your hard work and efforts.
I have a sound that I have been trying to re-create for many years and never got it right. It is the intro sound from the song "Only the Lonely" by "the Motels" (not Roy Orbison). You still hear this big hit on the radio today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaPTELylZ1s
This unique sound has percussion, organ, a hint of electric piano and some very interesting harmonic sounds.
Fantastic story: A few years back, I actually contacted the Marty Jourard, the keyboard player for The Motels. He told me he created this sound on a Prophet 5. Unfortunately, Marty lost all his notes and settings that it took him hours and hours to develop this unique sound. He also said that at some point later on in his career (he needed the sound again probably for some special event), so he hired an engineer to re-create it, but was just never the same.
Can you please see what you can do to re-create it? That would be totally awesome!
Thanks,
Andreuz

1) Intro - pad and lead
2) Dual Hammond (upper and lower with lower on my EX5 - it's daft with the CX3 that you can have dual manual, but only from the Kronos keyboard, so you need two CX3's, one for each manual)
3) Hammond and lead
4) Outro (same as intro actually; can't remember why I didn't just reference the intro!)
So three then.
I'll be happy to share the sounds I've made, but can't share the intro pad as that comes from a commercial library (the Pink Floyd Analogy)

If it was hard to recreate on a Prophet by a seasoned hand, then it probably involved poly-mod which by all accounts was pretty unpredictable. My own experience of that is "second hand" with the Arturia P5 VST. I was trying to recreate the intro synth sound of Kim Karnes' Betty Davies Eyes, which evidence on the 'net pointed towards poly-mod being a key feature. It took me ages to get something close to it, but I can't say I 100% nailed it, which may or may not have been due to me using a fascimile of the Prophet, but I found that ven small adjustments of the parameters could cause big differences.Andreuz wrote:Hello enigmahack-

Derek, that would be awesome. By doing that, I could focus my energy on just the opening pad sound, and save me a bunch of work.Derek Cook wrote:

Derek-
I purchased Arturia P5 VST a few years ago just to see if I could emulate this sound... and could not even come close to this sound. But then again, I am not a programmer. My guess is that Marty Jourard, probably layered a patch from the Prophet 5 on top of some other synth via midi... but what do I know.
I was just asking if it was possible to re-create this sound on the Kronos....or a least come somewhat close.
If you think it's a lot of trouble, don't sweat it. I was just assuming you guys liked the challenge... and hence, the reason you started this thread.
I think everyone appreciates what you have done! Keep up the great work.

That's precisely the point. I aim to get it as close as possible, regardless of how "tough" it might beAndreuz wrote: I was just asking if it was possible to re-create this sound on the Kronos....or a least come somewhat close.

Wow... I like that attitude. I have the same attitude towards my regular job. I wish more people these days would follow this outlook.
thanks a lot in advance,

This might help you... Knowing how to play the song might help with the harmonics. Here is a link of some guy playing the song. Although he is playing it correctly, the sound is missing percussion & other key ingredients that the original sound has.enigmahack wrote:That's precisely the point.
