Korg, Yamaha and Roland have always had high quality keyboards IMHO and one would expect that in 2015 Korg would have continued this process.

I always have my keyboards in Full Flightcases and move my boards myself with kid gloves and that is the method I would use with a Kronos should I get one. What would be a stopper for me is that if I done all that and then found issues with the keybed I would kick myself.

I hope to spend some time with a kronos later next month and hopefully that will allow me to fully test the New RH3 action and build quality of the Kronos 73 and 88, I think only then that I would make a choice
I agree with that. Its essential that you can adapt to the RH3 on the 88. and its a complex board without a doubt, and you have to get comfortable with it.

we know many pros travel with the Kronos. I believe 15,000- 20,000 of them have sold over the 4 years. No one told me those #'s, its just a very rough estimate or guess on my part.

Not trying to talk you into the Kronos. Just letting you know there is a lot of experience out there , some of it is going to vary. I am a very cautious person with my money, as well. I don't waste my time or money on sub standard products. we have lots of choices out there.

I agree Greg with your outlook on this situation and your right there are other choices out there but there is no denying the Kronos is pretty unique its the RH3 that worries me. I have also been looking at the Roland Jupiter 80 and one of the Kurzweil boards. Neither would fully replace what I have on the road currently as the object here is to scale down my setup while keeping a sonic arsenal available. This idea makes it even more imperative that the K8 is reliable as if it did exhibit issues where it had to be sent into Korg Service I would then be without keys and it seems a complete luxury to keep say the setup I have now just in CASE the Kronos did need repairs.

I am also a little concerned that Pedro relating his story about the German Pianos not playing well is worrying. From what I have heard I like to sound of the Steinway D over the Berlin Grand and I would be comparing them with the excellent Yamaha S700 triple strike piano on my S90ES. There's also a video on Youtube of a guy playing the new Berlin samples where he has a top octave note which seems to have a tuning issue, think it was top A ?

As I say I need to play the instrument to get a feel for it as it would be my main axe and would be called upon to provide me with a very wide sound pallet

I didn't intend to worry you about the German Piano problem I have....apparently it is not common,I only know of two other forum members that have, or had it,many don't.
My story was part of the general discussion we were having.

I still don't know why it only affects the German Piano, while the Japanese ones are ok.
At one time I though it could be a sample glitch, but I've re-installed them several times without success.
We all have the same samples anyway,so it makes little sense.

Having tried out many other pianos,in demo mode....most play fine, not to my taste though.
As said,I've tweaked the Japanese ones to my liking and am happy with them.

You are on the right track with planning to try one out,it is the best way.
I do wish you well with that and end up getting something that suits.

Best Wishes.

Keybed mounting screws

Post by JPROBERTLA »

I decided to check the tightness on the keybed mounting screws and found that 5 or 6 of them were slightly loose; especially 3 of them at the joystick end. I know this because as a long time Korg weighted keybed user (O1W/FD, Trinity, Triton, Triton & Triton Studio) I checked the tightness when I first got it and they were fine. I usually check this once a year (purchase anniversary), but it looks like the Kronos2 will need to be checked every 6 months or so. Anyway that was the problem. Thanks for all that responded and gave advice.

Pleased to hear your problem has been solved.

Forgive the few of us that went off topic by covering other things....possibly related, but not quite good etiquette.
However,it all helps,with good intention.

Best Wishes.
