Sync to ableton problem

Hi,

I've read lots of forum posts, but can't get my korg volca to sync with ableton.

I'm away from my studio at the moment but I'm testing it on my laptop, i have a usb midi cable connected to my usb post, the midi out connector is going to the midi in on the volga beats.
In ableton, i haven enabled sync in the midi prefs, i have selected midi clock source as CL.at (auto) on the volca beats.

I just cannot for the life of me get it to sync so that when i press play in ableton, the volga starts playing too.

Any help would gratefully be appreciated,

Hi elastic,

on my Mac I am using this

It's super flexible since it has 4 MIDI outputs, no problems with dead end MIDI chains.
