Hi All,
Thanks for the awesome forum. I have some pretty straightforward questions (one of them is stupid) that I tried to answer by visiting previous discussions but really haven't found the exact answers:
1. I am running my Volca Beats and Bass into my mixer ( Yamaha MG10XU ) for live stuff, loving it. My main wish is to get the sequences I make, and more importantly, the sounds into Logic so I can record them. What is the best way to do this? Is there a basic way to describe the link map to get this to worK
2. I also have an M-Audio Axiom controller that I have not integrated into the mixer/Volca configuration. Will I need to use this to get the sounds/patterns into Logic?
3. Stupid question: When someone says "sound card" do they mean my controller?
Thanks everyone!

Hello darkblue & welcome to the forum,
1) backfire question: did you ever record audio into your Mac? It is the same procedure all the way:
a) connect an audio interface (aka soundcard) to your Mac (usually no drivers needed on class compliant devices). This is done with USB, Thunderbolt etc.
b) connect audio out (this would be either your mixer main out or the Volca headphones jack) to the audio in on your audio interface. Here you need audio cables.
2) You don't need your controller here, it can't do the trick with analog/digital conversion of sound into data because it does not have audio interface functions. But you could use it to play over MIDI any of the Volcas (or both) on proper keyboard.
3) Nope, they usually mean a dedicated component which magically convert sound to digital data. Some controllers might have audio interface functionality but this is not so common to have. Some instruments (synths) have audio interfaces (like Novation UltraNova) which comes handy as you need only one USB cable to transfer both MIDI & sound.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Dragan
