This Kurzweil move simply reflects what musicians really want and need: being able to add sampled sounds whenever they are in need of them for bands or projects.
It is a much smarter move, than Yamaha did with the Montage, denying exactly this musicians' wish and necessity, with their not at all up to date move backwards to 1.75 Gb of sample RAM, and without proper sampling features.
Still, the Kronos with user sample streaming and the ease of getting a lot of quality material into it (size is not all, but DOES matter a lot in this context!) offers a sampling comfort zone, which no other Workstation or stage piano offers so far, along with a completely unrivaled multi-engine concept.
So yes: Kurzweil's move is definitely a good one, along with other nice update features. They really seem to listen to their customers.
But of course that doesn't make a Forte comparable to a Kronos.
