No More Music Stands!!!

I just realized with most of my band tunes I won't need to lug around any more music books or music stands! By using the Edit Comment function on the Set List Edit tab, I can basically write out all my charts right on Kronos. By using a larger Font and reducing the number of visible slots (all on the same edit page), I can easily jot down all the key parts I need to remember! This is really a great function because a music stand, charts and books are just such a mess to deal with on stage, looks highly unprofessional and really helps an aging pianist like me who struggles to (and hates to) memorize music from so many different bands and projects anymore. Again, thank you Korg! I love my Kronos!!!

Respectfully,
Gaston

I fully agree, I always use the set list slot description. I made over the years some easy notation that works well for me so I can put the comments in 4 lines (including a basic description of the layering/splitting of my 2 keyboard setup). I use colors to denote different songs (although I don't have a dedicated scheme)... Mostly I change colors every few months so newer songs have different colors so easy to recognize. And I always use PCG Tools to write so I don't have to use the Kronos display to enter all text.

In the past I normally learned all out of my head but just to have a backup is good enough (like looking on the display just before we start a song is normally enough to remember). And in the past in some cases I used to stick some papers on my synth for newer songs (especially during rehearsing). And the set lists we played were also stick on the synth ... now it's so easy to manage them. Although I wished Korg would make a 'move to left' and ' move to right' command to easily swithc them around... With the cut/copy/paste sometimes I make a mistake, overwriting one and have to start over (so I mostly use PCG Tools for that reason too).

Very cool Michel! Yesterday while putting all my charts on the screen for a gig this Saturday I accidentally deleted a bunch of text. So I just hit the "compare" button and violá! They came right back. Kronos is just so easily intuitive and I keep discovering features that are highly useful. And I've been working out on Kronos live and in studio for almost five years now. I can see where Korg is headed with these things and I'd bet this feature will be improved even further in the near future! Thanks Korg!

Also using setlists comments a lot to write down gig setup. Very helpful to remember which program or combi to use when combining several keyboards.
No more postits on keyboards.

I spent a day today creating a Set List Directory for one of the bands, using the comment section on Slot 126 and 127. It lists the songs in alphabetical order with the slots used as a quick reference. I'm all about making things easier! Now if only I can figure out how to get those Steinway D samples loaded. It may have to wait until after this weekend as I'm buried prepping for a gig. All good stuff!!

I totally forgot that you can reduce the amount of slots to 4 to allow for a bigger font:(. Up[ until now, I was using a small font and wrestling with too cryptic of chord progressions. Thanks for the reminder!

I don't want to hijack this thread, but within PCG Tools it is very easy to make sorted lists. By making a copy of the set list you can sort it instantly. What I normally do is place a dash (-) between the artist/group and title (e.g. Queen - Innuendo) and with 2 clicks you can sort an entire list on either the band name or the title name.

For gigs I copy the list (either the one sorted by band or by title) and move them in the order of the gig.

You absolutely can - I just wish you could use a PC Keyboard for doing more, like navigating around the interface using tab to move between pages and fields etc.
