YOU CAN SEE KRONOS EXTERNAL MIDI AUTOMATIONS!!!

Post by spaceman3 »

Wow!!!
I cant believe i found a way to see the slider and pan automation in KRONOS
sequencer when using external midi tracks from my MX49!
To see external automation of external midi instruments in KRONOS sequencer
I first made sure the track starts out as basicaly initialized.
Then i put the track on EXT2 and set the MSB and LSB for MX49.
Then i set the track to INT and turned the volume all the way down for the track.
Then i put the track to BTH.
This allowed the external midi track to be visualy seen, automating,
without sounding the KRONOS internal sound in the track.
I can make it work with my MX49, so im sure it would work with other sound modules/synths.
I just had to post this because in a past post i said it could not be done on KRONOS.
I am so excited to know i can see my automation of external midi instruments in KRONOS.

Hi Spaceman,

Nice work! I'm sure that it will work with other MIDI modules too, as you say. I'm certainly going to do it.

This is just an idle thought - I haven't had the chance to try it out myself - but you've got me wondering if you could also automate changes in the volume level of the MX49 outputs without bringing the Kronos' internal sounds in. My thought is that you could route the Kronos sound to an audio out that you're not using - i.e. route it to one of the auxiliary outputs, and then mute that channel on your mixer.

Worth a go, I think. But thanks for sharing your discovery...

Pete.

Hi pete.m,
Thanks for the kind words.
One of the many things i love about KRONOS is,
there always seems to be a solution.
I gave up on trying to make the external midi show automation in KRONOS,
but i thought to myself, there has to be a way to do this.
I spent about 4 hours yesterday, just trying different midi stuff, trying to make that one thing work.
I am going to go over it again to see if i need that many steps to get there.
I will post again with a better description, and any shortcut i may find.
