KRONOS sometimes feels a little warm

I have had my KRONOS for over two years, and one thing i have noticed is that about 90% of the time i can feel no heat coming from the back, by the power plug.
But about 10 % or less the time, the same area feels a little warm.
I can barely feel the heat.
Its probably body temp or a little above.
Is this something to worry about or is this normal?
Many thanks to anyone who has info on this subject.

Maybe there are some dust in the circuits.

It's pretty normal for a PSU (which is what's inside there next to the power plug) to become a little warm during use. In itself it shouldn't be a source for worry.

Kronos is a computer of sorts and so is my iPad.
My iPad gets hot in the rear when i stream video for more than a minute or two. Hotter than what you described and i have had laptops on my lap that were even hotter.
I know my iPad runs on less power than Kronos but gets the same heat and more and that heat is normal for iPad with less vent hole area than Kronos 2.
Same with the hot laptops i experienced, they don't use more power than Kronos but they get hotter. I guess the difference between audio streaming and video streaming.
I am no expert but have lots of expereince comparing devices of all kinds, comparing based on wattage use ,function and operating characteristics like heat. I even built something powered through PWM to control voltage, and rigged with a voltage meter as well as monitoring heat as PWM power was increased in gradual stages. Got to know what kind of heat build up was associated with what kind of voltage applied and also matching my heat levels to the listed maximum safe operating power.
Doesn't kronos have a warning that comes on screen whenever the device is under stress? I think i read that somewhere in a thread talking about fan feature and heating up.

I would guess this is why they put vents on the back of the K2.

As pointed out above, it's common for equipment to get a little warm. None of the Kronos models should have problems with overheating, however, unless they are in a *very* hot environment. For instance, if you're playing a gig in the desert in summer at noon, you might want to be under a canopy.
The Kronos 2's improvement here is that, in temperature-controlled environments, the fan doesn't usually need to run at all. Nice for quiet studios!

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I guess i was worrying when i didnt need to.
I could never hear the fan running on my KRONOS X 61, so i guess it has been in the back of my mind that maybe the fan stopped working.
The little bit o heat coming from back of KRONOS is next to nill.
Again many thanks.
I will rest much easier with the good info you guys provided.

The Kronos consumes an average of around 30Watts, mostly dependent on what it's doing, processor-wise, and that ultimately ends up as heat, apart from the tiny fraction that finds its way out via the signal outs and headphone socket.
It's like putting a 30Watt light bulb in a box.
