Hi all,
I have to play Livin' on a Prayer tonight and I seem to recall someone made a patch or collection of patches that had most of those sounds. Would save a lot of time. I don't mind buying a collection of useful stuff, I just can't remember where I saw it and who made it... any help is appreciated, so I can focus on the other stuff I need to prep. Thanks!

There's a free version I made on my youtube channel, but here's the link. It's not as accurate as my 'commercial' one being sold on my website, but it's still VERY playable.

Hi guys, sorry for not getting back to this. I initially got a reply from Narf but I recently found out the wrong email address was in that reply so we missed each other and the gig passed - I didn't have to play the song. I've since slapped together my own sounds, it turned out the guitarist played the iconic talkbox sound so that left only a few signature sounds which were easily programmed or adapted from what was already in the Kronos.
Thanks for the replies, I hope Enigmahack and Narf at least profited from a little extra exposure, both their soundsets are pretty good.

After viewing enigmahack's great youtube tutorial, this clip autoplayed:

I didn't realize there was a Kronos combi version with the guitar talkbox samples. Guess it's good to have C-D-E-F one-beat samples in case the band plays the song too fast!

I also have a version with the talkbox samples. The problem is that it's very much illegal (Copyright infringement issues) because you're sampling right from the album. Probably no-one would ever ask but you simply don't want to take the risk sometimes.

I've been playing Living on A Prayer since I was in my first band in highschool. Now in my forties, I'm still playing it but with just one keyboard with all the right sounds. Played this recently with the talkbox sounds without telling my bandmates... Everyone lost their minds when they heard it. 25th highschool reunion this year and my highschool band will actually get together and play on the night. Can't wait... Here's my version

Hi there Narf,
I'm just curious: how do you manage to sample a specific sound like that, while eliminating all other sounds in that passage of the song? If you sample the talkbox, surely the sample will also be punctuated by the drums, and coloured by synth and bass sounds etc. Do you even start with the album track, or is it possible to get a version of a song in its individual pre-mixed audio tracks to work from?
Cheers,
G.

Those originally came from me. Youtube is loaded with isolated tracks from various albums. I downloaded the video, extracted the audio, and broke it into individual samples.

I got mine from Laziest Keys... the guy who did the video 2 posts up. There are a lot of isolated tracks out there. I normally use an iPhone app called Beat Time to get them from YouTube, splice the waveform and convert to individual wav files.
