Karma question

Hi everyone,

This is probably a rookie question with a simple answer but I was unable to find a clear answer by browsing the parameter guide and my usual method of figuring things out by accident has yet to yield desired results.

In a combi I want to apply Karma to only one channel/track. I'm trying to build the intro to "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry and there's an arpeggio happening underneath the melody that I'd like to try and recreate and apply to specific keys up top that I'll only be using during this intro. The rest of the song I'll avoid those keys so no worries about accidental triggering.

Here's the song for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysTjJaYX0WA

What am I missing regarding setting Karma to only influence one track of my combi?

Karma GE setup page has the midi I/O section with Input side and Output side.
Midi channel settings. The input side can all be Gch for combi mode and the output side for your intended Karma module will have to be set to an isolated midi channel that the other timbre do not use.
Then go to your intended combi timbre and look in timbre parameters for where to set the midi channel the timbre will send to. Set it to the same channel as the Karma module you intended for it.
The key is that they(karma module and timbre) correspond on a midi channel that is not used by the other timbres or unintended external devices.

If in Combi, all timbres normally output through Gch, so you will have to select anything between 1-16 that is not being used as global channel. Find one and use it for both your intended timbre and intended Karma module.

Also look at the InThruZone settings, in Karma. Some in the GE setup section and others in the Midi I/O section. They determine if the programs will only respond to Karma played GE notes or include notes that your fingers play on the keys. Maybe you already have this covered?

Thank you for your response. It makes sense to send Karma info to an unused output channel and then align track midi to that channel as well. I am going to attempt to work through this based on your explanation. Thanks again for your help!
