It looks like Korg are designating May 1st as Korg M1 day, 30 years after the original was released.

I was hoping they will release M1 hardware, as roland D50 boutique series. That would be fun :) not a pricedrop for software. Every year before Christmas they also make 50% discount for every korg software.

They do say "To trigger the start of our celebrations" so that tells me there is more to come.

Cool. Was my 2nd synth and I still have one. Might give it a new battery for it's birthday. Or replace it with a Triton Rack, I need the space

The 30 years shocked me as well, then I went and looked in the mirror and it made sense.

A while back there was a guy here (from Europe) selling soundfonts of the M1 for the Kronos. He wasn't a vendor, so I didn't get them. Fast Forward a year, and I buy a set on eBay. Turns out it was the same guy, and I gotta be honest- they're pretty damn good. The only missing that I needed was the Metal sound. (Perfect substitute for the Synclavier in "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" after transposing it 2 octaves up and changing the envelope.) I mentioned that it was missing, and 4 hours later, he sends it to me.

I got my 1st M1 about 2 months after they came out, and lemme tell you- back in 1988 it was a game changer for the keyboard player.

Got the M1 soundset for the Trinity, the M1 piano (especially in the old-skool dance scene) and organ are truly iconic.

Never had an M1 because it didn't come in an 88 note version. But I did have an M1R and used its sounds and sequencer almost exclusively. Got an O1W as soon as they were released and have used Korg workstations ever since.

I was still in high school and just started driving when the M1 hit the stores...I still remember pressing those beautiful sleek glowing buttons and hearing the demo for the first time....To this day, there has not been a more aesthetically pleasing, designed keyboard than the M1...Even the sliders were sleek, makes you almost forget it even had any....Solid build, great key action....Good times....moon
