Hi all,
Ive got a 2nd hand Korg Kronos a few months back. After about a month, the screen suddenly become erratically unresponsive, for no apparent reason. (I tried calibrating, etc. but it didn't work). Sometimes it works almost perfectly. Currently, most of the screen is responsive but there's one small area in the bottom right corner that doesn't respond. And frustratingly, when I try to save a file, the OK button doesn't respond. Can anyone please provide any insight?
I'm thinking of ordering a new touchscreen and trying to fit it myself, but not sure. And if I need to get a new touchscreen, would you advise me fitting it myself? I've seen a youtube video and it seems quite complex but not impossible. Many thanks, Steve

most people here will say to bring it to an authorized repair shop. but if you follow step by step, the video, i dont see why you cannot do it yourself. I would do it myself, personally.

If you are deciding to try it yourself, maybe a good idea to open it up before buying any parts.
Open it up and look inside for what you are dealing with.

The other thing is that it could be something else, but i don’t know enough for any reason to not try the touch screen replacement.
It is a good idea to open up the Kronos and have a close and careful look, before buying any parts.
Maybe someone else can comment about the chance that it could be something else like on the processor end that handles touch screen data.

It would be a waste to go through the touch screen replacement and then find out it was something else.

Hopefully it is as simple as opening it up and pushing+pulling wire connection points and cleaning debris off of the inner hardware.

I suggest you figure out where and how much the LCD part is.

I don't assume parts like this are ' easily ' available. Sort of " look before you leap " advice

Cheers. They're available from Korg themselves and not too expensive. But as someone else suggest, I might buy it, take the keyboard apart and find it doesnt fix the problem!!

Thanks. May be worth doing. The part is less than £100 I think and seems the obvious problem, but as you say, it may be the processor or something.
