Korg Kronos & Studio One 4 Audio Playback Issue

Post by Karmaman »

Greetings all,

I'm having a problem in Studio One 4 playing back audio of what I recorded. My current setup is a regular PC with a MOTU Micro lite interface connected to my Kronos 2. Other than the Studio one software I have the Kronos editor 3.1 and the ASIO4All. There is no other interface than the Micro lite.

Studio one does not recognize the Micro lite under its audio device page but does recognize it connected to my Kronos under the external devices page. Studio one does recognize the ASIO4All software on the audio devices page.

I've become very exasperated trying to understand why Studio One will record what I play but not play back the audio. What's funny is I have and old version of Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and it works just fine.I thought it would be good to step up to newer software since I now have the Kronos 2.

What are you trying to record - audio or MIDI?
Motu Micro Lite is MIDI interface, it does not show under audio devices.
From your post I cannot understand how all your gear (Kronos, PC, how you get audio in and out to your PC) is connected and what exactly you are trying to achieve?

Thank you for your reply alland.

I have a regular Dell PC with Windows 10, A Korg Kronos 2, a MOTU Micro Lite which is a midi interface, Presonus Studio One 4 Artist version software and ASIO4ALL driver which I downladed.

The problem I'm having is Studio One will record the music I play on the Kronos (because I can see it doing so via the timeline and peak meters) but there is no audio playback through my speakers.

As I mentioned earlier, I have a '90's version of Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and it has no problem recording and audibly playing back (through my speakers) that which I played on the keyboard.

The reason I bought Studio One 4 was to use a more current piece of recording software akin to what others are using today. Though it might not be on the level of software like Ableton, Logic etc. I figured it would at least get my foot in the door. Also, being a pensioner it was affordable.

OK. What does your Presonus show as Playback and Recording device under Options>Audio Setup>Audio Device ? And what options are listed both under Playback and Recording device selection?
