Korg Kronos Sequencer "Takes" and Drive Space

Post by blazerunner »

Hello,

I'm trying to record songs with my sequencer but when I redo takes it takes up space and I get a message saying that the medium is full and I can't record. Is there a way to delete takes to clean up space?

DISK/Utility

see drop down menu for delete.

Midi file SEQ songs or takes take little SSD file space.

My guess is your SSD is maxed out.

Its not likely that your disk is full - there’s a quirk with recording takes where it is unable to overwrite the existing file. I’ve experienced this a couple of times, and at that time I found that there are threads discussing this issue.

Let me go dig up the details again.

sounds like a bug--

are 'takes ' limited in # ?

I have done up to 5 takes on a song, so I haven't experienced the ' bug ' [?] . Thus I have never tried or needed to 'overwrite' a
a take file.

And I have not experieced 'Disk full' on doing up to 5 takes.

look forward to your detail. google search didn't say much

Take a look at the OG, page 104. It talks about the TEMP directory, which contains temporary unsaved audio files. You may need to delete the TEMP directory, as that can cause the issue you experienced as I recall.

If you watch your screen as it boots, you will see the message displayed at one point:

"/TEMP folder detected"

I can't locate the thread I stumbled on which pointed me to this solution, as it was probably 6 months back or so, but I'd suggest checking to see if the TEMP directory is present and, if so, delete it using the Utility menu.

yes, I have experieced the SEQ process with audio files and how TEMP folder can capture them. At boot up, etc.

Seq treats midi files and audio files differently.

The O/p didn't say midi or audio files.
I assumed, likely incorrect, he was playing with midi files.

Another suggestion is to go into Disk mode and tap the Media Info tab - it will tell you how much free space you have on the hard drive.
