I put in a 128 Gb Sandisk to see if it worked which it did.

That said I only used a 32 Gb Lexar as I only used it to store the Backup, SaveAll and OS update files, everything else was on the USB memory stich which was far easier to copy to the PC as a Backup.

Not a chance , a fast USB 3 thump drive compatible with USB2 protocol like genuine Sundisk Extreme Pro , will be faster than internal HD ,
search my reference post in forum some years ago !
mSD will be always slower 'cause mobo communication port protocol is always older USB 2 !

I don't believe that you will ever need more than 64Gb for any use !
Pa4X internal HD is enough for everything , but I use Sundisk since its faster.
I have tried up to 256Gb but 32-64GB Sundisk drives are faster !

Actually microSD card is slower than the 1GB supplied from the keyboard as the internal storage.
The internal storage is eMMC which is an 8bit parallel bus while the microSD slot on the back follows the SD protocol which is a 4bit parallel bus.
That said it is still faster than any usb port on the keyboard as usb stands for universal SERIAL bus which would translate to 1bit bus if there was such analogy (it is 1bit as it is serial one).
If you have the 76key pa4x then it also has an internal HDD which is still using a usb to sata interface making it again slower than the micro SD card that you can put on the back...
