The Kronos does not itself have the capability to create MP3 files, the logic being that since this is a lossy compression method, an unacceptable loss in sound quality would result. However, it is possible to record your playing as a sample, where the audio data are stored as WAV files. Just press the Sampling Rec button on the far right of the keyboard and then the Start/Stop button below it. The recording will start based on the relevant sampling Trigger settings, e.g. Immediate, or Note-on.
Before doing so, go to the Audio In/Sampling settings tab for the Program or Combi you are using, and select the source as the L/R Bus, Mode as Stereo, and select Save to: as Disk. The last bit is important, as it makes the process much simpler.
Once the recording has started, press Start/Stop again to stop the recording of the sample. Once recording is finished, use Disk mode to locate the files. They will be named something like TAKEN001.WAV. If the file is selected, it can be played back by pressing the Start/Stop button below the Sampling Rec button. These files can then be copied to a memory stick and converted to MP3 on a computer. The WAV file data will be 48kHz sampling rate (1536kbps) so bit rate conversion to 44.1kHz may be necessary, if the playback speed seems odd after burning the WAV file to an audio CD. It works fine here, using Audacity as the MP3 creation software. Just load the .WAV file into Audacity, and then do Export Audio in the Audacity file menu.
Interestingly, making and using direct recordings in this manner doesn't appear to be mentioned explicitly in the Operations Guide, or Parameter Guide, nor in any other forum posts, unless I'm missing something. Which makes it one of Kronos' hidden gems.

MP3 and WAV are audio formats. So voip's post sounds like a good way to acheive the goal of "I want to record what I am playing." This is probably what you are looking for.
But just to clear up any confusion, recording the audio of what you're playing is not the same as "recording" combis or programs. Combis and programs are just settings, not audio. If you ever want to save ("record") combis and programs onto a USB stick for backup/transfer purposes, see e.g. the thread at
