Baffling Problem using Solo's and Mute's.

It's Sunday and like every day it's a great day to use the Kronos.
So I started to continue working on a song I've been working on since the start of the week.

This song is mainly Midi tracks.
With a drum pattern on Audio.

On the audio drum pattern I have Midi track 16 setup to Mute and Unmute portions of the track.

On Midi track 15 I have set up for another Midi track to receive Mutes and Unmutes.

On Midi Track 14 I have it set up for the same Midi track to receive Solo's and un Solo's.

The problem I'm running to is that on the Midi track that I have my Mutes and Solos setup. I have a portion of the song where it is both "Muted and Solo'd" at the same time. While in Solo mode I set up an automation to "remove" the mute. So that when I un solo the track the complete piece will play.

Problem is that on playback the "mute" isn't "unmuting" so it just solos that portion of the song and continues with the track on mute. It does not seem like I can use automation to unmute the track while the solo is engaged. I found that if I set up an unmute a few measures after the solo ends that it will disengage the mute.

Problem is that's not where the "Mute" goes in the song and I need it to be unmuted during the solo.

These are clean tracks. I don't have any other funky automation going on in the song just the solo's and unmutes using the two midi channels I mentioned.

I've been fooling with this all morning trying to understand. Anyone know what might be going on?

I’m not 100% positive on this but maybe when you solo the track it mutes the track that is doing the controlling then the controlling track stops transmitting data.
I hope that makes sense…

I don't know what's up with the Kronos I just try to figure out work arounds when it comes to things I can't particularly get it to do.

I tried a few things but I ended up ultimately just muting my track and un muting it a second before the solo kicked in.

I don't think you can Solo muted tracks on the Midi channels. Maybe you can get away with it it on audio. The rules of the sequencer aren't always clear or in the manual. Sometimes you just have to run into stuff and learn about it the hardway on this Keyboard.

I was able to get the overall effect I was looking for. That's a plus for me this morning. I got up early and spent 2 hours working on samples to add to this song on my old MPC and it crashed and I lost all my work. A reminder to me why I don't care that much for using old gear anymore. It might sound good but you just run into old problems. Time to send that machine to the dust yard (aka my shelf of gear that collects dust) that's the final time I lose my work on that machine.

From now on it's Kronos and only Kronos. She never lets me down.

can you please explain to me how you use a midi track to mute etc an audio track thats already pre recorded?
