It's not the same thing Sina, that in the Oasys with a GE is an emulation and sorry to say but it's limited in my opinion, a guitar mode like the Pa2Xpro is really needed and a good expansion dedicated to basses and guitars to accompany that, don't tell me about the STR-1 because it sounds synthetic since it's a modeling synthesys and then to obtain an acceptable sound with it you have to work days by days.Sina172 wrote:You already have that. It's called Manual Advance. This is one amazing feature in KARMA. Read Stephen Kay's tutorial at Karma-Lab. I sometimes use it to to get my own Rhythmic Guitar Strums.devix wrote:Guitar mode of the pa2x pro.
I'll pay even 1000$ to have it
I did ask for Guitar Mode myself, but I realized that Manual Advance is pretty much the same thing. You can do your own inversions and what's more is that you have a HELL of a lot more control with KARMA. It's really NO comparison once you learn how to use it. It DOES take some getting you to, but once you do, you'll forget about the Guitar Mode in the PA2XPRO.

And another thing very important is adding to the sequencer a piano roll view like in the Fantom, since it costs like car I think it must be as much complete as it can, i hope that the programmers are working about this issue, yes guys I think that the sequencer sucks compared to others workstations, I love it but this doesn't mean I haven't to be sincere with what I think.
Another thing is related to the software update issues that many people encounter. It's not possible that I had to bring my Oasys to my local service center just after I received it 'cause of an update, a stupid simple update (1.3.1), or better, a bugged update. Too many things to mention in this topic.

When in program mode we press enter+rec, the oasys asks if you want to enter seq mode and star recording that program in track 1. Every time we do this, even with different programs, it always goes to track 1 and replaces the previous add program. So, it would be good to add multiple programs in multiple tracks, so, in the "enter+rec pop-up window" we should be able to assign the selected program to a track of our choosing and, therefore, adding tracks (with all its properties, IFX, MFX, Karma, etc) and not simply replaicing track 1.

Good news you can add multiple programs to the track of your choosing with the effects. Of course the effects are limited to 12 for the inserts and 2 to the mfx, and 2 to the tfx and so on. In stead of doing it that way.Pr0 wrote:When in program mode we press enter+rec, the oasys asks if you want to enter seq mode and star recording that program in track 1. 1. Audition the program, write down or remember the program number.
2. Press the sequencer button, go to touch menu, the same one where you "rename the song", and look for the "copy from program" selection.
3. Select "copy from program" and then you simply select the program you won't added, then select the midi channel or "track" that you want it to assigned to. Next select what type of effects you want from the program in program mode to go with that program to sequencer mode. You can even choose to use the Karma from the program just assign that to one of the four modules.
4. Finally hit ok(or whatever button that is). You can repeat this until all of the programs you want are assigned to the 16 tracks, (minding the effect limits).
5. Keep in mind that your effects are limited. What I do is select the "Ifx-all used" and assign the Karmas until the four modules are used up.
This is alot easier than my instructions may make it seem. Try it. You can even add the effects of the programs (by adding them to there corresponding programs in sequencer mode) to songs you have already made. It takes less than five seconds to assign a program and choose what track (midi channel) to add it to. I think this will help you.
One.

Formant (interpolation?) of samples.
I believe I've spotted a very do-able feature for OASYS that would elevate its sampler to a unique market position - using formants on samples.
In recent weeks I've been setting up samples of a Roland VP-330 sample-based emulation for the OASYS. Using a free set of samples placed onto the web with every 3rd to 4th note sampled, I'll have to set up a set of ‘ranges’ for sample playback. Thankfully no sample will be pitch shifted more than a few semitones and the results should be fairly good.
However, I decided today to see if some sort of formant software is available to allow for a sample to be pitch shifted and formant corrected (as for example Roland’s Variphrase technology does in realtime). Such software would ideally allow a given sample to be pitch shifted and formant corrected and for it to be saveable as a new sample, in wav or other formats. In this way, my VP-330 emulation for example could be allocated a separate sample to EVERY note, and with formants corrected, there would be seamless note on note sample play back, accurately emulating the original instrument.
To my surprise, given how flooded the audio world is with sample based instruments, such software is very rare, and to my knowledge, none of the major software samplers does this.
Hence - a suggestion to the OASYS development team would be the development of a capability within the OASYS Sampler to allow pitch and formant correction of samples and for them to be saved as wav files. This would not only allow for superlative sample instruments to be assembled on and for the OASYS, but would make the OASYS sampler a coveted and highly spoken of, top of the line and virtually unique sampler. The Kudos acquired form it would be significant. Korg could then place this technology in all future products that provide sample editing, and would be a step towards other formant-based products as Roland have become known for.
In summary - a new feature that allows the OASYS sampler to pitch shift and formant correct, and then save the results as wav files, would make the OASYS sampler incredibly powerful and highly sough after.

1) It would be nice if there was a tab (or floating window) where i could enter comments about the combi i'm playing, as i have a lot happening in the combi's its hard to remember everything i need to do while playing live, especially when you end up with around 20 combi's that you might use in a night.
2) An inbuilt chromatic tuner would be nice.
3) I think this has already been requested, but auto loading of recorded samples/KSC files.

Re: Oasys Wishlist
screen can be used as a PDA notepad? so that I could write short notes in it with my finger or a stylus. Useful if I just want to quickly scribble a particular setting without wanting to write a whole new program...or just to remind me to buy tomatoes!
