Just wanted to let you know what a great job you did with the video and the areas you covered. There are a couple of functions that I wasn't even aware of much less getting to perform them. Now, I can just hit rewind and watch as often as needed to comprehend... "Thumbs Up" and thanks!

YAY!
I have it on good athority that my DVD is on its way!
I am really looking forward to this - EXS3 and Mike's video were my "Christmas presents to myself" this year.
Though I am no slouch as a programmer, there are plenty of areas in the Oasys I haven't delved yet and its always wonderful to get a different perspective as you always discover something new, wether it be a feature or a method of doing something.
Thanks again for all your hard work on this, Mike, and your decision to make it very affordable!

Thanks Mike. Just received mine, and its great! (9 days from Las Vegas to England).
The DVD is very professional. I found it illustrated the usage of the Oasys very well. It combines shots of the touchscreen along with the shots of the usage of the physical controls - combined with, of course, the resulting music.
The DVD is a great advert for the Oasys. Reading the manuals and listening to demos gives you an idea of what the keyboard can do. But this DVD takes it to a new level. It doesn't just list parameters and specifications, it shows the workflow necessary to produce many different and interesting results.
The Oasys is pretty daunting without this type of help, particularly when you don't own one yet. On the workstations that I have used, I have generally just stuck with the sounds provided - but some of Mike's examples have really motivated me to dig a little deeper.
I'm sure the Oasys has been carefully designed with particular workflows in mind. Maybe in a future device, online help will link to videos authored by the engineers who thought up the workflow. This could illustrate the full potential of a workstation.
(Particularly when there is a large hard disk available for storing mpegs and an operating system available for playing mpegs).
A picture paints a thousand words - particularly when there is sound as well!
As a prospective buyer, this DVD has been a good brochure for the Oasys capabilities. Hope to have one soon!
Thanks again, Mike.

Wow Mike, that postage speed was pretty impressive, in the middle
of the Xmas rush too. Around 8 days to the backblocks of Western
Australia!
Mind you, this is a small country town, so when a brown paper
packed dvd arrived from "Midnight Sun Entertainment", the
post office lady was convinced it must be a porn flick
Thanks again. This is the kind of "step by step Oasys" that
I had envisaged and mentioned some months ago.

Thanks, Goldcrest and Yabby! Not everyone gets them that fast, but it's good to hear that quite a few are moving quick.

I should have had the OASYS at the beach and put a bunch of people in bathing suits on the cover! Or, worse yet, use the Bed Picture that I used to post.Yabby wrote:Mind you, this is a small country town, so when a brown paper

And the Motif XS DVD only shows the basics! It doesn't even scratch the surface! No master mode, little voice editing, little song sequencing, etc! It's not even worth a fourth of it's price! It's a good thing that the new Masterclass DVD for the Motif XS is coming out soon. That DVD is hosted by a Yamaha specialist, and it is supposed to go much more in depth than the first DVD.ReIgnition wrote:I paid 29.00 for a Fantom X DVD from Roland, which isn't bad at all.
On the Motif DVD the guys pushes the buttons and talks sooo fast you don't know what the heck he's doing. On top of that the camera is 10 feet away (no zoom).
Some of these guys forget that when you're part of "creating" hardware or software you know what you're doing (you made it) but you may have to slow it down for everyone else to pick up what you spent years designing. Not that I'm saying that's your situation just in general to the creators that do the tutorials.
push this, then that, arp this, bring up that, patch, hit execute, and presto music created sequenced, mixed, recorded with 19 simple steps. If you missed any part of this just repeat the last segment.
I'd rather pay for 3 good DVD manuals parts 1,2,&3 - than to get 1 cheap DVD like my example above.
The Oasys DVD sounds like an excelent idea, and even though I don't have an Oasys yet, I'll probably pick one of these up anyway. I want to do as much research as I can about this beast before I buy one, and the DVD would be great for that.

Hey Mike!
Got mine yesterday. Very nicely done!
I've only watched the interface part so far and, even though I know the UI very well (or thought I did), you clued me in to some shortcuts and functionality I wasn't aware of.
Now I'm really looking forward to watching the next bits on some areas of detail I'm not that familiar with.
Bravo!

Check out Goldcrest's post, above. He did just that and I'm glad it helped him. A lot of people don't have an OASYS at their nearby music shop. I would do the same thing.KingJ wrote:I want to do as much research as I can about this beast before I buy one, and the DVD would be great for that.
Good to hear, especially from someone with your experience. If something else catches your eye, let me know!Carbon111 wrote: I've only watched the interface part so far and, even though I know the UI very well (or thought I did), you clued me in to some shortcuts and functionality I wasn't aware of.![]()

Funnily enough I got the same sort of look. I'm in small town New Zealand. Must be an antipodean thing.Yabby wrote: Around 8 days to the backblocks of Western

Mike fantastic Job.
I didn't know how much I didn't know until I saw your DVD.
Now get off your arse and produce/release volume 2.
Cheers Mike
Joe
Got my DVD today, Mike. It's great and you sure covered a lot of ground. If some one sat down and showed me all this, I couldn't remember half of it, as the information content is so rich, but thanks to your DVD, it is easy replay sections and thus provides a great learning tool. Didn't even know some of this stuff you showed was even possible, and the creative possibilities are mind-numbing. Wow!
Congrat's on a job well done!

I already have several topics in mind.vortex wrote:Now get off your arse and produce/release volume 2.![]()
I'm very happy that it can serve that way. I notice that some people are watching the whole thing, in one day! That can be a lot, but as you said, you can always rewind and focus on what is necessary.JamesD wrote:It's great and you sure covered a lot of ground.
