PA800 OS Problem. Paolo please help.

I have owned PA50, Pa1x, Pa1xpro and now PA800. I got my PA800 yesterday brand new. Everything worked fine. I loaded my customized styles and started playing. At some point though the user style 3 bank would not play. All my styles were listed there. But when I would select one, it would not play. I have loaded the full 127 MB file from the CD. All the banks have been erased but bank No:3. I tried to manually erase it. I get "Files that were in use have not been deleted". If I try to overwrite the styles I get "Generic device error". I have done this several times. I have no other issues except I can not use user style bank No:3 and the styles still show up in there even though I can't access them. Is there a combination of keys that would grant me access to the SSD (System)?I am good with computers, I will not mess it up. I think that folder is corupted therefore it can not be overwritten. If I could only delete that folder then reloading the OS and resources will fix my problem. Please help. I love my Pa1xpro, but PA800 is faster and lighter. Thank You.

might be dumb question, but have you tried hooking it up to your PC via the USB cable? when you do that the entire SSD is visible in windows explorer and free to do whatever file swaps/deletes/loads you want?
cheers
dennis
BTW as far as i know there are no system files on the SSD, only the factory data files (styles etc etc)

Thank you for your quick reply. No, it is not a dumb question. However when you hook it up to the computer you only gain access to the user's partition of SSD. That is only 20 MB. I need access to the system's partition.

Mg,
Have you upgraded to OS 1.02? There was a problem with previous versions, when dealing with User Sounds based on external samples. Maybe this is your case?
Also, reloading the OS and Musical Resources by keeping the Intro 1 button pressed when turning the insturment on can help you, since it deltes the whole content of the internal memory.
Warning: All data will be deleted, so be very careful.
Best regards,
Paolo

Yes sir, I have done that. Still I can't get rid of UserStyle3. Today is Memorial Day and Korg in US is closed. But you guys, I think, know a lot more about these arrangers since you build them.
For some reason the installation package does not erase that bank. The OS1.02 merely upgrades the os and not the resources. That "Generic device error" worries me. Is there another boot option? Or a way to flash the SSD?
Thank You.

You can try to read this thread:
NAND Format
Personally I would not try out this procedure unless Korg advised me to do it. It might even void the warranty of your board. If you choose to do it anyway then please post your experiences here on the forum.
Kind regards,
Tommy

And thats the only way your problem can be solved. The file on their site is
small, the file on CD its a big 120something MB file which wipes out the
whole synth, but the one on the their ite wont do it.

Hi all,
I have heard a strong rumour that a new "User Memory Reset" utility has been developed by Korg and has already been sent to some users for testing. I'm confident that this utility will be posted on Korg's web site in a few days time. Have patience my friends!
In the meantime, please note Korg's previous warning that the NAND format operation is extremely dangerous and may ruin your keyboard take it out of warranty. It is apparently completely unsupported by Korg and this forum have several times been advised against it by Korg. It is possible using NAND format to wipe the Boot Loader code and USB device drivers that are invoked when you power on with an OS update in the USB devices or HD drive.
I hope Paolo will post an update to this message as soon as possible.

Hi guys, I have been following these threads closely as my pa800 was playing funny, by that I mean when I load samples to it they sound ok but after saving it to user memory it all gets distorted! I loaded the Turkish Arabic styles and real drums supplied with the keyboard and this is what Happened.
Is this the OS as you guys are saying or is the user SSDU stuffed?? Because RAM in my case seems to be fine! just after saving to user memory this happens! I am very annoyed as I was working on a projet!
Anyhelp would be great!

Hi Roman,

May you please let me know the following?
1) Is the Style that refuses to be deleted 0KB in size?
2) Try to save all the User Styles into a new .SET. Look inside the .SET with either a personal computer, or the Erase page of Pa800. Inside the STYLE folder, do you see the USER[nn].STY file corresponding to the back containing the Style that refuses to be deleted? (For example, if the Style is iside the User03 bank, look for the USER03.STY file).
3) Did something strange happen, when saving the Style? For example, a power break, or turning the insturment off while writing?
4) Do you remember which operation you were doing, just before discovering the problem?
Best regards,
Paolo
