M3 FireWire Option Board (EXB-FW) -- When?

Post by Vermeer »

Last I read, Jerry was mentionning December 2007 as a target date. Are we still on track for operation "total integration"? ;)

Anybody else waiting for this option to come out?

The U.S. Sweetwater website lists "It's Arriving Soon", so I suspect it will be available within a few weeks:

Perhaps Jerry K. will see this thread.

I suppose it'll be available as soon as the 1.1 OS is released worldwide. Hopefully that'll be this coming week.

Exactly. I have stock in the US and am just waiting to coordinate the timing/release of everything you need. So at this point I feel safe in saying "early December", in corporate-speak.

Jerry,

As usual, thanks for the prompt answer. It's fun to see how all the pieces slowly coming together. I hope this option board becomes a big success, so that DAW integration becomes a basic feature in every synth.

Regards,

Given all of the product comes from Japan, I assume Korg UK is in a similar situation -- i.e. holding the release of the EXB-FW until an OS upgrade is available to use it.

People would be pretty upset if they purchased the EXB-FW and then were told 'sorry, you can't actually use it yet until we release OS v1.1'.

Before I forget to mention...

This M3 FW option card is the closest we've ever been from the old OASYS PCI card which Korg unfortunately had to discontinue. I think this idea was too ahead of its time in 1999/2000, but now, with people being burned out from soft-synth plug-ins, I would not be suprised to see some users getting several M3s just to use as sound engines inside their DAW.

Good time to be a synth owner :D
