I am using an yamaha mfc10 programmable footcontroller for changing karma on/off, latch on/off and switching karma scenes.


For programming the karma on/of you need to send a value off cc#30 with a value off 1-63 for karma off and a value off 64-127 for karma on.

Depending if the patch standard karma is on or off, there is a change you have to press the programmed pedal twice to enable or disable karma.

If the first value you programmed the value 64-127=on is and the second send value 0-63 off is, a patch with standard karma off will change to karma on after one !! press.

However if the choosen patch is standard karma on i have to press twice the pedal to set it off.


But when i connect to the oasys a simple on/off switch en select in the global mode karma on of related to the switch pedal , i always have to press only once the switch to change the state of karma.

Why is this not possible with footcontrollers like behringer fcb1010 or yamaha mfc10

Are you familiar with the tone adjust concept of relative controls vs absolute controls? This is similar... a relative control will change the target parameter starting from it's current value, an absolute control will change the target parameter jumping immediately to the value you have just sent it.

In the situation you mention, remote CC control of karma on/off is an absolute control, sending 0-63 is always going to set karma off, sending 64-127 will always set karma on. Depending on the initial state in your control unit, this means you may have to hit the pedal twice. The internal footswitch routing is a relative edit, when the footswitch is pressed the karma on/off state will toggle to the state that it's not in currently. This means you never have to press the pedal twice.

So in view off the most used , or very good to use footcontrollers behringer fcb1010 and Yamaha mfc10, if there was any oppertunity in the global settings, that a certain message would react as an absolute control, all people would have the oppertunity to switch ( for instance ) , the 8 karma settings with the knobe 1 to 8.

Knob 9 related to a certain value to what would cause an absolute change of the kama state and knob 10 in the same way related to a certain value which was related to an absolute change of the Latch state.

To my opnion many oasys users would benefit of such a possibility.

Now both famous footcontrollers can not realize something a simple footpedal can.


Thats a pity, now i still have to use the mfc10 and a simple footswitch for direct switching.

Hm, I use the recommended Korg Footswitch. But it does not seem to work properly. Quite often I have to step on it twice. At the first step the Karma button might flicker but not change. At the second step it usually does change. And then it changes again at the first step. But I guess this is more an issue of the hardware of the Korg Footswitch than of the Oasys or its software ...
