Trouble with padKontrol and DKFH superior
Hi I am new and have run into some trouble. I cannot get the Drumkit from hell superior software to work. Im not sure if the software only comes with the sound clips and not the actual drumkit from hell program because I cannot find the korg version of it. Also when I try to open the sound clips in another program it says that they are not supported or they are corrupt. I tried uninstalling it and the reinstalling it once but it had no effect on it. Thanks for any help
You didn't mention what operating system you are on or what host that you tried to use DKFH with.
I had lots of problems getting it installed under Mac OS X Leopard because the installer wasn't working properly but I eventually got it going by chaging the permissions of some directories that it was having trouble writing to.

I am running windows xp and i have tried the wav files with reason and live. It says that the files are corrupt and i have uninstalled and reinstalled. I was also wondering if it comes with drumkit from hell software and not just the wav files. When i checked the korg site theres a picture of Drumkit from hell software and it says korg addition. So i am wondering if you have to get that else where in order to use the Drumkit from hell wav files. I like the way the drumkit from hell software is set up and id like to use it. Thanks for any help

My experience is that dfhS has to be installed EXACTLY as mentioned in their installation. However, I already had dfhS before I bought the padKontrol, so I didn't bother installer Korg's version of dfhS with the controller.
Also, obviously make sure in your host that the MIDI in is coming from padKontrol, and the output in your host is mapped to drummer.
It's usually something simple that seems to prevent all this from working seemlessly.

i have the same prob...
i downloaded the software, but when i try to find it i can't, there is no software or program for me to start, there's only drum sounds? why is that?
Re: i have the same prob...
Just grabbed a padKontrol myself and decided to start looking in this section of the forum for a change.
I haven't installed the Korg Edition of dfhs, and I probably won't since I have the full version of dfhs already.
However, I bet the reason that you don't see any programs to start is that it doesn't have a standalone mode. It's a VST plugin, so you have to start your host and insert it as a soft synth. Assuming the installer was smart enough, it looked to find where all your other VST plugins are and stuck it there, which is why you're only seeing the drum sounds.
Once you insert the VST and it starts up, you'll probably have to set the path to the drum sounds (it'll tell you this).
As far as the "corruption" Stuff and Things mentioned, it may be that the .wav files combine multiple velocities into one file or something like that--I haven't tried just playing the files in Windows Media Player or anything like that to see.

Sorry, but I don't know if Audition 2.0 can do it or not. I have 1.5 and it can't--it can use VST effects, but not instruments. Adobe usually has pretty good help files though, so do a search for VST to see if your version supports VST instruments, and it should tell you how to work with them if so.
I also have problems with my pK! I cannot get any drum samples to work, even though KORG says you should be able to at least get some drum samples (Loading scnenes) straight after opening the box. Unfortunately this does not work for me.
I just bought my padK and it came with dfh SUPERIOR KORG Edition.
I installed the driver - OK (connection with another (ultra analog session)freeware that came with the pK works fine)
I installed the Editor Lib and that seems ok too. After installing dfh I do not get any program to "start-up". I don't know if this is the way it should be!? I recognise this problem from mcprofound
I then tried to open the Editor Lib and "Open Scene Set" and chose "dfh SUPERIOR KORG Edition", choose "MIDI"-"Transmit Scene Set" and the connection with the pK seems to work well (on the display it browse from 5.01 to 5.16).
In the MIDI Prefs I have:
MIDI IN: padKONTROL 1 PORT A
MIDI OUT: padKONTROL 1 CTRL
Please if someone could help a beginner in this field! It is so frustrating to buy something you cannot use.

Ok guys, like I said, there's not a standalone program that you can start for dkfhs. I double-checked the readme file that came with the Korg edition just to make sure there wasn't some difference I wasn't aware of.
It's a VST plugin, so you need to have a VST host in order to use it. That means something like Sonar, Cubase, etc.
Or, here's a thought: Assuming you got your padKontrol fairly recently, it came with the Korg Creative Kontrol Pack (kudos to Korg for not going krazy with the k's like NI always does
).
There's a version of Ableton Live on there--install it.
Then, when you run it, you can go to the plugins browser (View->Browser->Plug-In Devices is one way to get there, and there's also a little plug icon on the top left that will do it). It'll want you to activate your plugins the first time you use it--basically, it'll take you to a file folder preferences menu, and you set the "VST Plug-In Custom Folder" to wherever your VST plugins live, and then turn "Use VST Plug-In Custom Folder" to On.
If you don't know where your VST plugins are installed, try looking for drummer.dll--that should be what dfhs calls itself, but I don't know for sure. I tried to install the Korg version of it just to help you guys out more fully, but it gave me a friendly popup saying I already have the full version, so why settle for less (it actually said that)?
Once you've got the plugins activated, you should see drummer under the list of plugins in the browser. Just drag and drop it to where Live says to drag and drop stuff, and you should be in business. Well, that'll at least get Superior started...as far as hearing it or using the padKontrol with it, I'm not familiar enough with Live yet to answer that. But there's some documentation that came with Live that you can look at, so hopefully that can answer any other questions you have.
Oh, and one thing I did see on the Toontrack website is that you'll have to enable stereo mixdown in Superior's settings if you're using the Korg edition of Live--apparently that version of Live has a limited number of audio tracks.
Hope that helps.

Ok, I looked a little more into it, and it's not too hard:
You were only hearing the kick drum probably because you need to enable Stereo Mixdown.
So, you drag and drop drummer over where it says to drag and drop stuff. The initial Superior screen comes up, and you should see a Settings button. Click that, and make sure that Stereo Mixdown is enabled. Then click the Back button, then Continue...you figured that much out before, so you should be ok as far as hearing stuff from Superior goes. You may actually need to restart things for the mixdown setting to take effect--not sure on that one.
Now, as far as getting the padKontrol to control it, here's what you need to do: Go to the View menu and make sure that In/Out is checked. If you did the drag & drop thing, then a new MIDI track was created (track 3 for me). You should now see MIDI From on that track, and there's a dropdown where you can select your device. For me it defaulted to All Ins, and that should work for you. Try tapping on your padKontrol and you should see some activity on the little meter that says All Channels. You may even hear something at this point, but I had to take the additional step of clicking the In button right under Monitor on that track.
That should do it.

I am sorry if you think I am a real idiot regarding this matter. I still dont get any sounds from the pK!
This is what I've done ( I've used you help sentences):
Go to the View menu and make sure that In/Out is checked. OK I did that!
If you did the drag & drop thing, then a new MIDI track was created (track 3 for me).
I cannot see this! Where can I see this ? In the Live Lite or the Superior Drummer?
If I recognize this I might continue further with your valuable help!
Sorry, but you are helping a real beginner!
